Part-time Fireman - Black Seal Low Pressure Preparation Instructor

The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Fireman - Black Seal Low Pressure Preparation instructor for classes taught in Hackensack, New Jersey .

About us:

SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the New York City area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.

Who we're looking for:

  • Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings
  • Teachers looking to empower workers through industry skills education

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching concepts related to boiler operations
  • Teaching Boiler parts and functions.
  • Reviews terminology for Stateexam.
  • Provides practice exams to prepare students for the NJ Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operator exam.
  • Guides students and provides feedback on how to fill out paperwork for DOL exam.
  • Maintain andsubmitrecords of attendance
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available

Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
  • One of these: Black Seal/Blue Seal License/ Third class Engineer License
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

  • Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption
  • Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization

Classes offered:

  • Saturdays,9:00am to1:00pm
  • Classes on additional days, times and locations may be available, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends

Wages and Benefits:
