Job description

Maintenance Technician Apprentice/Mechatronics Technician

The Silgan Closures Maintenance Department in Kingsport TN is continuing our Tennessee Department of Labor certified apprenticeship program for the position of Mechatronics Technician. At the successful completion of the program the employee will be a Department of Labor certified Journeyman as a Mechatronics Technician.

The 4-year/8,000 hour OJT (on job training) program is supplemented with 1,000 hours of related instruction. There will be numerous instructional labs at the RCAM building, a wide array of on-the-job-training and studies completed on your own to complete and become certified.

The dollar investment is well over $20,000 for the education content alone and over $140,000 in regular, straight time wages in the first 4-year period plus overtime. The labs, classes, OJT are company-paid. There is additional related instruction that will be required to be completed on the candidates own time.

Meet the requirements of the National Career Readiness Certificate at: Applied Mathematics 4, Reading for Information 5, Locating Information 4
Sign the Silgan Apprenticeship Agreement with NESCC/RCAMM and abide by the standards of Apprenticeship
Attend and pass coursework during and off-hours
Demonstrate progress on the job
Submit regular progress reports
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent personal leadership and organizational skills
Pass a drug screen
