Job description

SMX is looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer to support our government client in Huntsville, AL.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with team members and customers to build and modify software
  • Develop code, test, debug and fix issues, and improve software performance
  • Connect data from differing sources such as SQL or Dataverse
  • Set up, configure, and manage GitLab pipelines to automate build, deployment, and continuous integration processes
  • Work closely with UI/UX designers to create user-friendly interfaces
  • Integrate APIs and web services into applications as needed
  • Ensure compliance with MDA Software Assurance policies and agile methodologies
  • Modernize current legacy applications and migrate them to the hybrid cloud service provider environment
  • Participate in sprint reviews and system demos as required
  • Maintain technical documentation to include release notes for new software versions and training materials
  • Provide the customer with recommendations for application enhancements, to include new capabilities and performance

Required Skills & Experience

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required
    • 4 additional years of related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • 1+ years of relevant software experience
  • Knowledge of, and experience employing, the software development life cycle
  • Software engineering experience encompassing:
    • software requirements analysis
    • software design
    • software coding
    • software integration and testing
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, and Gitlab pipelines
  • Ability to multi-task and work across a variety of software development projects 
  • Experience using JavaScript, jQuery, Web Services, APIs, HTML and CSS
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must reside within a 70-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL
