Overview
FSM is seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented Graphic Design Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work directly with FSM's design team and collaborate across our web, story, digital, account and project management departments. You will gain hands-on agency experience creating marketing and advertising materials across a wide variety of platforms for a range of predominantly B2B clients.
Schedule & Hours
  • Availability: Up to 15 hours per week (with the opportunity for more based on client needs).
  • Location: This position is fully in-office.
  • Required Days: Candidates must be available to work on-site in our Downtown Akron office on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays
  • Length: One semester (spring, summer or fall, 12-16 weeks)

Application & Portfolio Requirements
All applicants should submit 3-5 samples of their work. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate versatility.
A winning portfolio should include at least three of the following:
  • Print Project: e.g., booklet, trifold, sell sheet, etc.
  • Interactive or Website Project: Showcasing UX/UI thinking
  • A full month's worth of Social Media Graphics/Images/Videos: A cohesive campaign or series
  • Edited Video or Motion Graphic: Showcasing timing and storytelling
  • Original Logo and Brand Guide: Demonstrating identity systems and typography
  • Photography Project

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Creative Design Execution: Assist in creating designs that help clients reach their business goals.
  • Multimedia Production and Manipulation: Capture high-quality photo content and execute professional photo editing; perform video editing for social and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate & Learn: Seek out and learn from constructive criticism during internal reviews.
  • Accountability: Manage time effectively and remain able to pivot based on agency priorities.

Skill Set & Requirements:
  • Visual Design Platforms: Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Express).
  • Video & Photo: Experience with video editing (Premiere Pro or After Effects) and photography/photo editing (Photoshop, Lightroom).
  • Web Knowledge: Understanding of UX best practices.
  • Digital Tools: Experience with Google Slides/PowerPoint and email building platforms (MailChimp, Constant Contact).
  • Organization: Ability to switch gears from client to client in a fast-paced environment while staying focused on the details.
  • AI Integration: Use AI to work efficiently and make the most of tools/assets available to you.

Education and Experience:
  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree program in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
  • A client-first, service-oriented mentality.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
