Job Description
OK Transportation's Student Engineer Intern Program
This is the Engineer Apprentice level, where incumbents are students attending a university and working a minimum of 20 hours per week who perform a variety of routine engineering tasks in a training status under close supervision. Incumbents will perform basic engineering tasks such as the review of less complex plans, the performance of basic engineering calculations, the writing of permits, the performance of computer modeling, and the inspection of parts of an engineering project.
Engineer Apprentice (Student) Requirements:
Level I:
โ€ข Enrolled at the University of Oklahoma pursuing a bachelor's degree in one of the following undergraduate majors: Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Science, or Environmental Engineering.
โ€ข Completed at least 30 credit credit hours
โ€ข Minimum 2.5 GPA (High School or College)
โ€ข Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours/week
Level II:
โ€ข Enrolled at the University of Oklahoma pursuing a masters degree or doctorate degree in one of the following majors: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering: Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering: Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering: Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering: Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering: Water Resources Engineering, or Construction Management.
โ€ข Completed a bachelor's degree
โ€ข Minimum 2.5 GPA (High School or College)
โ€ข Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours/week
Special Requirements:
Applicants must be a United States citizen or legal resident of the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act, 8 U.S.C. Section 1324b.(Sponsorship for an employment visa is not currently available.)
Engineer Apprentice (Student) Salary Range:
  • Part Time: Level I: $19.08 hourly; Level II: $20.67 hourly; both levels receive benefits
