TERRITORY & TRAVEL:

Target Location: Salt Lake City, UT, Boise, ID, or Portland, OR

Ideal candidate will live in to support the the Mountain West and Great Plains region for this position near a major airport. There will be up to 85% overnight travel within territory.

What you will do:

The Field Service Engineer III will install, repair and service chemistry analyzers and instrumentation to ensure continuous operation.   Ensure customer needs and expectations are met and exceeded while promoting a positive image of Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and verification of clinical and discrete chemistry analyzers in accordance with instrument/product manufacturers specifications.
  • Provide effective, timely communication and negotiation scheduling with the customer, partner.
  • Ensure effective and timely service and appropriate documentation is recorded through required processes.
  • Knowledgeable of safe operations and maintenance of the analyzers.
  • Maximize analyzer uptime and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Must be proficient with the use of customer management software to track service calls, manage parts inventories, and complete job tasks. 
  • Collaborate with Sr. Engineer or Manager, Field Service to analyze, review and inspect findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Engineer or Manager, Field Service in problem resolution with factory engineering, technical support, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
  • Assist with on boarding of new hires.
  • Shows ability to coach/mentor other Field Service Engineers.
  • Opportunity to be trained as a trainer on one or more instruments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Instrumentation, military experience in a technical field or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Field Service Engineer. 
  • Effective communication skills and establishing good customer rapport are essential.
  • Proven ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Must have ability to work independently and have good organizational, communication and time management skills.        
  • Computer proficient.                                                     
  • Must be available to travel overnight up to 85% within the territory or other areas as required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.

Essential Functions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs with assistance on occasion.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 25-30 lbs continuously throughout the day.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stretch, and reach daily in a service function.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
