The Field Engineer โ€“ Energy is responsible for providing customer technical support for all AFL electrical power systems products into the utility and telecom markets. Supports the commercial team efforts by providing product installation expertise, building customer relationships, and providing technical support for troubleshooting and repairs.ย 

Responsibilitiesย 

  • Support customer projects through on-site support for installationย training, fieldย failure investigations, on-site supervision, or direct installation support.ย 
  • Provideย hands-onย productย training and installation supportย to customers.ย 
  • Assistย customers with product installation questions.ย 
  • Provideย support to further develop installation and training documentation forย products.ย 
  • Assistย with new product developmentย byย providingย installation insight.ย 
  • Supports the development of application notes, instruction manuals,ย and application videos for products,ย installationย proceduresย and applications.ย 
  • Interact with product managers, applicationย engineers,ย salesย team,ย and customerย service representatives asย required.ย 
  • Travel to customer sites and train end usersย onย proper installation techniques.ย 
  • Develop and/or update procedures and documentation forย his/herย area as applicable.ย 
  • Follow, know, promote, and demand the fulfillment of the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policy, rules, procedures, and operative controls toย maintainย and improve our performance on these matters.ย 
  • Identifyย clientโ€™s requirements on sustainability needs from our products.ย 
  • Inform EHS departmentย forย any requirements from clients thatย involveย new materials or processes changes toย identifyย environmental, health and safety impacts.ย

  • (Required)ย Advanced Installation knowledge ofย electrical distribution and transmissionย products.ย 
  • (Required)ย 5+ years of experience inย theย electric utility fieldย withย a solid understanding of the electric utilityย industry.ย 
  • (Required)ย Hands-onย fieldย experienceย in electric utilityย line work inย theย distribution,ย transmissionย and/or substation environments.ย 
  • (Required)ย Demonstrated understanding of transmission, substation, and/orย distributionย construction & maintenance applications.ย 
  • (Required) strong writing skills for training content development and customer communication.ย Strong verbal skills for effective internal and customer communication.ย 
  • (Required)ย Willing and able to conduct customerย trainings, high voltage product demonstrations, and troubleshoot customer product issues in the field.ย 
  • (Required)ย Developย expertiseย inย AFLโ€™s optical products and hardware used by utility market customersย in order toย provide the same customer training and supportย as AFLโ€™s electrical conductor accessories.ย
