We're searching for the next generation of innovative minds who want to shape the world and live to build. CMAC is looking for Concrete Finisher Apprentices in our Sterling, Virginia region.
What You Will Do:
As a Concrete Finisher Apprentice, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Completes concrete place and finish trade work.
  • Takes direction from supervisor (foreman or superintendent).
  • Learns trade of placing, consolidating, and finishing concrete.
  • Learns methods for screeding concrete to correct elevations.
  • Learns methods / techniques for placing and consolidating concrete to appropriate grade.
  • Learns methods for finishing concrete including timing requirements for different finish types.
  • Learns how different mix designs and admixtures affects placing and finishing.
  • Learns process for achieving floor flatness and levelness requirements.
  • Learns techniques for curing concrete.
  • Learns techniques for early entry saw cutting control joints in concrete.
  • Learns tools and equipment associated with place and finish operations.
  • Learns methods for concrete surface and structural repairs.
  • Completes ACI certification course for placing and finishing concrete.
  • Introduced to reading and understanding blueprint and specification reading.
  • Completes silica awareness training.

Expected Hours of Work: Full time, more than 40-hours a week. May work nights and weekends, construction may sometimes continue around the clock to meet deadlines.
Travel: Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.
Pay: $16.50-$28.50 per hour.

  • Have the ability to take measurements and make calculations.
  • Ability to work well with supervision and peers.
  • Have good communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Must pass any skills tests as required by the jobsite.
  • Ability to problem solve when errors occur.
  • Keep tools and workspace organized.
  • Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
