Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast paced technology company and a leader in the world of Cloud Computing. We are currently expanding our Network and Cable decommission (NCD) team and are looking for a Decommissioning Technician with a robust technical understanding of network and infrastructure implementation concepts and the drive and vision to take AWS to the next level. The NCD team are looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class individual who will work closely with project management, network engineers and operations teams to facilitate smooth project delivery

The Decomm Technician will be responsible for executing multiple concurrent project activities and communicate the clear status of each project on both regular and ad hoc/as needed cadences.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational:
- Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center
- Decommission network racks and equipment in line with internal SLAs
- Manage assigned work and priorities through ticketing system and/or workflows.
- Interact with other datacenter personnel to coordinate work activity
- Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency
- Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates
Problem Solving
- Maintain the highest level of network availability by reviewing activity and proceeding with the highest level of operational paranoia
- Escalate to senior technicians, TIPM and management as needed/required
Mentoring:
- Share knowledge and help educate less technical staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues
- Support the onboarding of new technicians through the NCD training and certification program by instructing and observing trainee technicians
Hiring:
- Contribute towards building a great team by getting involved in the Amazon hiring process/candidate interviews
Key job responsibilities
- Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices.


- Physical Decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
- Manage assigned work and priorities through ticketing system and/or workflows.
- Scope the level of effort assigned, validate all work is ready for decommissioning, create change requests to perform work, and timely execute effort that has been assigned.


- Provide structured feedback/updates to Stakeholders via ticketing system and/or messaging channels.
- All efforts need to be documented via ticketing system.
- Effectively co-ordinate and deliver multiple tasks concurrently.


- Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center safety and cleanliness.
- Effectively leverage the logical tools and systems that are provided.
- Collaborate with various peers and stakeholders to remove obstacles.


- Read and comprehend datacenter build documentation, and site specific layout material.
- Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
- Travel within geographical work area is required
- Travel up to 25% of time outside traditional work area may be required depending on your primary region.
