Job description

Summary
The Department of Math and Computer Science is one of 11 departments in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Computer Information Sciences. All majors must choose a specialization in Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or Digital Media.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Barry University invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty members in the area of Mathematical Sciences. The positions emphasize excellence in undergraduate instruction in alignment with Barry University's core commitments to social justice, collaborative learning, and inclusive education. Selected candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses including College Algebra, Precalculus, and Elementary Probability and Statistics. Contracts are offered on a semester-by-semester basis depending on departmental and enrollment needs.
Essential Functions
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Mathematical Sciences, including but not limited to:
    - College Algebra
    - Precalculus
    - Elementary Probability and Statistics
  • Follow established syllabi and collaborate with full-time faculty to ensure learning outcomes are met.
  • Maintain office hours for out-of-class student support.

Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics from an accredited institution.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate level is preferred.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive pedagogy.
