Description
New College of Florida invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Mathematics starting in August 2026. A Ph.D. in mathematics is required. New College of Florida is committed to creating an environment that is conducive to learning and respectful of differences, where all members of our community can experience a sense of belonging. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in pure and applied mathematics.
The teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials, independent study projects, and senior theses. Expertise in applied mathematics is preferred, but strong candidates in any area of mathematics will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching. This non-tenure track position is a 9-month appointment for the 2026-2027 academic year with the expected possibility of renewal.
Situated on Sarasota Bay along the Gulf of Mexico, New College is the nationally recognized honors college of the State University System in Florida. A small, innovative liberal arts institution, New College offers an individualized and student-centered curriculum where students receive narrative evaluations in addition to grades.

  • Expertise in applied mathematics is preferred, but strong candidates in any area of mathematics will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching.
