Summary
Under the guidance of the Applications Manager, the Applications Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of all applications-related projects within the Tube & Wire Forming Products group, including feasibilities, tooling development, customer runoffs, and technical support. This role ensures that customer applications are developed, verified, and implemented effectively, from initial concept through final production.
Applications Engineers analyze customer requirements, perform feasibility studies, assist with tooling design and validation, and provide recommendations on machine configurations and software to achieve optimal results. They collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, Service, and Operations teams to ensure smooth project execution and alignment with customer expectations. One of their primary goals is transforming a customer's concept into the final product, delivering precise, repeatable results while maintaining BLM GROUP USA's commitment to technical excellence and exceptional customer service.
Essential Functions
The duties listed below are the specific duties and tasks that someone in this position must accomplish. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the level and/or class of this position.
Take ownership of and oversee the development and validation of customer applications from feasibility to production, taking ownership of all technical aspects of the project assigned on the feasibility log.
Gather project information from customers and the Sales department to ensure smooth execution of Tube & Wire Forming projects.
Analyze customer drawings to determine the feasibility of an application utilizing BLM's product offerings.
Collaborate with Sales team to suggest features, accessories, and/or software products to aid the customer in their application.
Develop and perform customer demonstrations on any Tube & Wire Forming equipment and software as needed by management.
Travel to customers to support the Sales team and/or collect technical information regarding an application.
Oversee and maintain nonconformance reporting regarding tooling- and applications-related issues.
Act as the primary point of contact with tooling suppliers for assigned projects, gather information, maintain timing, and oversee re-work/RMAs.
Aid in the reviewing process of tooling design and provide suggestions on improvement.
Communicate any specific requirements found during development or runoff to Project Management and the Installation supervisor.
Provide weekly updates to Project Management regarding in-process applications development and tooling orders.
Provide support to customers both during and after the sales process.
Assist in solving technical issues found during the commissioning, tooling validation, acceptance, and/or installation processes.
Oversee and assist with customer run-off acceptance tests, while managing the customer relationship and thoroughly documenting the results as needed by management.
Oversee and assist with the installation, set-up, and programing of machine tooling required to perform the customer applications as needed by management.
Executes the internal procedures of BLM GROUP USA to perform the required job functions to successfully complete Tube & Wire Forming Products projects.
Maintains a positive rapport and business relationship with internal and external customers by providing outstanding customer service.
Evaluate and improve internal processes, templates, and reporting systems related to feasibilities, tooling, and applications testing.
Ensure compliance with BLM GROUP USA procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations across all applications projects.
Act as a primary point of escalation for customers or internal issues related to applications, tooling, or acceptance testing.
Support strategic initiatives to enhance the overall efficiency and capability of the Applications department, including feedback to global product and software teams.
Ability to travel up to 50% as required by management. 
Other duties as assigned by management.
