Job Description 

 

Summary/Objective 

Act as the bridge between sales, engineering, and service by executing in-house and customer driven R&D on standard equipment. Split time between SonxTOP Laboratory / Operations and SonxTOP Service in the USA.

 

Essential Functions and Competencies

  • Prepare, set up, carry out, and document in-house and customer trials, machine acceptance, and field service
  • Prepare, set-up and carry out trade shows, exhibitions, and open house events
  • Coordinate and perform service and support calls for SonxTOP serial machines (USA)
  • Interface and coordinate service calls and machine calibrations between engineering, sales, and clients
  • Training and instruction at customers meetings
  • Use and maintain measuring devices, testing devices and accessories
  • Must be able to travel in connection with upcoming projects
  • Must be able to work with a team and in high stress environments
  • Must be able to manage time between service and laboratory needs

Work environment

The employee must be able to function independently in a variety of different work environments from industrial environments, which are concerned with heavy machinery and specialized equipment, to the computer and programming scene where the application engineer will be reliant on technology and software. The employee may encounter high stress environments that require quick thinking and decision making.


Physical demands

The employee is regularly required to sit; grab or reach, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk. The employee is occasionally required to twist, bend, independently lay on floor to repair machines. The employee must be able to navigate an industrial environment with equipment that is mobile and regularly relocated. The employee must be able to inspect/repair machinery and equipment visually and/or physically. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to work in high stress situations.


Travel Required

The employee must be able to travel both locally and internationally (including but not limited to Canada, Germany, Mexico, Brazil & China). Typically 30-60%.

 

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent experience 
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial machinery, automation systems, or manufacturing equipment 
  • Experience supporting serial/production machinery, including high-volume or standardized equipment 
  • Hands-on experience with machine assembly, troubleshooting, and repair in a production or laboratory environment 
  • Familiarity with ultrasonic welding systems or similar technologies, including plastic joining and vibration welding, strongly preferred 
  • Understanding of plastic part design, assembly processes, ultrasonic components, and automation machinery/components 
  • Good communication skills with previous customer-facing experience 
  • Experience in sales engineering, applications engineering, estimating, or quoting is a plus 
  • Technical certifications in automation, robotics, or industrial controls are a plus 
  • SAP software experience preferred

Must be flexible and able to move between work environments with little notice. Must be able to think logically and quickly while maintaining a calm demeanor.
