Job description

Applications Architect – On-Prem Applications Focus

The Applications Architect is responsible for working directly with department heads over various packaged software (Financial Software, HR Software, etc.) to understand business goals and subsequently architect technical solutions to ensure optimal value from the packaged applications. You will be architecting integrations and deployments in a hybrid-cloud environment, primarily on-prem. As such, we're looking for someone passionate about understanding overarching packaged application landscapes, and architecting the best technical solutions to integrate and deploy these applications to Windows/IIS environments. Also, if you have experience automating these infrastructure processes, you'll have an opportunity to do so here. We use Powershell quite extensively.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Work directly with the application functional owners to understand their business needs and identify where an IT solution is available. Documenting solutions from both a technical and business perspective is an important function of this role.
  • Research new applications and/or application features both independently and by management request. Formulate recommendations and implementation plans.
  • In conjunction with other technology teams, establish and maintain an appropriate test environment and execute appropriate application test plans.
  • Work with others on the Applications team to evaluate, test and integrate new software and upgrades to existing software.
  • Resolve end user issues as escalated by the Service Desk or business owners, including working with software vendors' technical support to resolve complex problems.
  • Assist in the creation and/or evaluation of data flows between systems. Understand/implement solutions and maintain the appropriateness of data visibility.
  • Using a variety of means, maintain a high level of current awareness of new technologies and technology trends associated assigned applications and areas of discipline.
  • May be required to perform other duties or special projects as required.
Skills We're Seeking
  • 7+ years of experience deploying applications to on-prem Windows desktop environments
  • Experience integrating on-prem applications, either from an architecture or engineering standpoint
  • Scripting experience for automation, ideally using Powershell
  • Experience evaluating new packaged applications, and helping the business to understand the architecture, integration and deployment considerations before new applications are selected
Nice To Haves
  • Windows Server experience
  • IIS experience
  • Azure experience, ideally working in a hybrid cloud environment
  • Experience supporting applications implemented through Citrix
