Applications Packagers are IT professionals who prepare software applications for deployment across an organization’s computers. They create, test, and document installation packages, ensuring that each application is configured to work seamlessly within specific network environments. Their work often involves using packaging tools like Microsoft SCCM, InstallShield, or Wise Package Studio, and troubleshooting compatibility or deployment issues. Applications Packagers play a key role in software rollout projects, ensuring minimal disruption to end users.

To thrive as an Applications Packager, you need expertise in software deployment, scripting (such as PowerShell or VBScript), and familiarity with application lifecycle management, often supported by an IT-related degree or relevant certifications like Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. Proficiency with packaging tools such as Microsoft SCCM, AdminStudio, and MSI/X packages is typically required.
