McNair Scholar Summer Research Student Assistant

    • Position Summary
    • Temporary hourly-intermittent bridge student assistant positions available in McNair TIRO Grant.
    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after June 1, 2026 and ending on or before August 31, 2026. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Assist McNair Scholars with identifying campus resources.
      • Create and facilitate peer-to-peer enrichment workshops and meetings.
      • Create flyers and use available technologies and social media to promote events and enrichment workshops.
      • Assist with program outreach and promotion at McNair sponsored events and information sessions.
      • Assist with travel arrangements including use of Concur Software.
      • Assist with the development, promotion, execution, and conclusion of McNair sponsored events.
      • Provide prospective participants, staff, and faculty with program information.
      • Assist students with McNair Scholars Program Application.
      • Assist with McNair Scholars orientation.
      • Manage front desk (emails, filing, scheduling, copying and scanning documents, greeting visitors, troubleshooting computer and printer issues, etc.).
      • Data entry and use of databases such as Excel.
      • Manage and track office inventory.
      • Attend training meetings as requested.
      • Other duties as assigned.
    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Demonstrates a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
      • Demonstrates current participation in the McNair Scholars Program.
      • Demonstrates prior experience with Microsoft Office and Google software packages.
      • Demonstrates prior experience working with diverse populations including ethnically diverse, low income, and first-generation college students.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
