What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Application Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Application Designer, you need strong skills in user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design, proficiency in design principles, and a background in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, and prototyping software, as well as knowledge of coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, is typically required. Creativity, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills for collaborating with stakeholders and translating requirements into functional designs. These skills are essential to create intuitive, visually appealing applications that meet user needs and business objectives.

What are Application Designers?

Application Designers are professionals responsible for creating the structure, layout, and user interface of software applications. They work closely with clients and development teams to ensure that the application meets both functional and aesthetic requirements. Their role involves understanding user needs, designing wireframes or prototypes, and specifying technical requirements to guide developers. Application Designers often use design tools and frameworks to visualize and communicate their ideas. They play a key role in making software intuitive, efficient, and visually appealing.

How does an Application Designer typically collaborate with developers and stakeholders during a project?

Application Designers work closely with both developers and stakeholders throughout the development cycle. They translate business requirements and user needs into functional application designs, often creating wireframes or prototypes. Regular meetings and feedback sessions ensure alignment between the design vision and technical implementation, enabling designers to make necessary adjustments based on feasibility and user experience goals. Strong communication skills are essential, as Application Designers often act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

SUMMARY

We are looking for a thoughtful and detail-oriented UI/UX Product Application Designer with 7+ years of professional experience to help shape intuitive, elegant, and user-centered B2B digital experiences.

You will play a key role in turning complex problems, often involving data, calculations, dashboards, and system integrations, into clear, step-by-step workflows that balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.

As part of a cross-functional team, youโ€™ll work closely with product managers, engineers, stakeholders, and end users to define requirements and rapidly move from idea to prototype using Figma (including prototyping) and modern AI-enabled design tools.

If this sounds like the right role, please submit a resume along with a link to a portfolio showcasing product application design.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & TASKS

  • Translate product requirements into user flows, wireframes, clickable prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups in Figma for desktop and mobile product experiences.
  • Show curiosity and drive in adopting new AI tools and workflows (including integrations) to accelerate iteration and move from idea to prototype quickly.
  • Create clear specifications, annotations, and acceptance criteria to support developer handoff, including front-end behaviors and high-level back-end requirements (data, integrations, and system rules).
  • Design for complex integrations and ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and consistent, backed by strong information architecture and systems thinking.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think independently and collaborate with cross functional team members to develop and refine internal processes and ensure efficiency across workflows.
  • Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability tests) to inform design decisions.
  • Translate complex business needs into intuitive, step-by-step user experiences and functional UI requirements, including rules, validations, calculations, and edge cases.
  • Build and maintain design systems and reusable components to ensure visual consistency.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and responsive design.
  • Iterate on feedback from users, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Advocate for best practices in accessibility, design systems, and interaction design
  • Analyze usage data and conduct testing to continuously improve the product experience, including data-heavy screens (charts, graphs, dashboards, and reporting workflows).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience in UI/UX, product design, or similar roles.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and final products.
  • B2B product experience designing workflow-driven applications where clarity, efficiency, and accuracy matter.
  • Experience designing for both desktop and mobile applications, including experiences with complex integrations and multi-step processes.
  • Proficient in Figma, including interactive prototyping, and comfortable using modern AI-enabled design tools to document, communicate, and iterate on designs and requirements.
  • Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to simplify complex problems into usable, elegant experiences.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, data visualizations, and responsive design.
  • Experience designing data-heavy UX (analytics, dashboards, charts/graphs, and calculation-driven interfaces) with strong attention to detail and QA-mindedness.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with user research methodologies and usability testing.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.

What Youโ€™ll Gain

  • Opportunity to shape real-world product experiences that make a difference.
  • A collaborative, data-driven, and user-focused product team.
  • Exposure to a fast-paced, iterative development environment that embraces AI.
  • Continuous learning and growth across design, research, and product strategy.
