Job description

HumCap's client is seeking a Power Field Application Engineer to serve as a critical technical liaison between internal engineering teams and key enterprise customers across North America. This highly visible, customer-facing role is ideal for a hands-on electrical engineering professional with expertise in power electronics, troubleshooting, and field support. The successful candidate will support new product introductions, perform advanced diagnostics, and help deploy next-generation power solutions within data center, AI, server, and enterprise environments. This position offers the opportunity to combine technical problem-solving, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration while directly influencing product performance and customer success.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the Primary Technical Resource for Customers
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, partnering with sales and engineering teams to support strategic accounts.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and recommendations to customer engineering teams and leadership.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers through responsive technical support and consultative problem-solving.
Lead Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting Efforts
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, firmware, and system-level issues at customer sites.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide timely corrective actions to minimize downtime and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Document findings and communicate recommendations to both customers and internal engineering teams.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) Programs
  • Collaborate with global engineering, manufacturing, and product development teams to support new product launches.
  • Assist with product validation, testing, qualification activities, and implementation at customer locations.
  • Ensure customer requirements and regional compliance standards are properly addressed.
Perform Hands-On Engineering Diagnostics
  • Utilize oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power supplies, and other laboratory equipment to troubleshoot power systems.
  • Conduct circuit-level analysis, debugging, performance optimization, and validation testing.
  • Support prototype evaluations, product modifications, and engineering improvements as needed.
Drive Continuous Quality and Reliability Improvements
  • Identify recurring field issues and recommend design, process, or component improvements.
  • Partner with engineering teams to proactively address reliability concerns and optimize system performance.
  • Provide technical guidance on power architecture, topology selection, and system integration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Field Application Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Design, or a related engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems.
  • Experience with analog circuit design, power systems, and hardware debugging.
  • Proficiency using laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and power supplies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data center, server, AI, cloud, or hyperscale power solutions.
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Familiarity with new product introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Mandarin language proficiency is a plus but not required.
