Job Description:
Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

We are hiring for one permanent, full-time position located at the ODFW Headquarters in Salem.
What you will do:
You will serve as the primary strategic partner between designated business units and the Information Services Division (ISD), guiding the success of a defined portfolio of applications. You will ensure that technology effectively supports program goals, provide expert-level insight, and lead lifecycle planning, modernization efforts, and complex issue resolution. Key responsibilities include:
  • Business Partnership & Engagement
    Lead collaboration with program areas to set priorities, gather complex requirements, advise on modernization opportunities, and recommend technology improvements that support long-term planning.
  • Support Triage & Issue Resolution
    Serve as the escalation point for high-impact, multi-system issues; perform advanced troubleshooting; and lead testing activities, including regression and user acceptance validation.
  • Application Portfolio Ownership
    Maintain deep expertise in assigned applications, identify and mitigate architectural or lifecycle risks, coordinate multi-team upgrades and feature releases, collaborate with Systems Analysts to refine information processes, and maintain system analysis and design documentation.

What we are looking for:
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, all applicants must meet one of the following options:
  • Option 1: Five (5) years of information systems experience in: project management and program analysis
  • Option 2: A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in: project management and program analysis
  • Option 3: An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience in: project management and program analysis

  • Organizational and Coordination Skills- Effectively manages competing priorities, coordinates complex initiatives across teams, and ensures documentation, planning, and execution stay accurate and aligned.

  • Question 2: This role requires advanced troubleshooting across integrated systems and deep technical expertise in application portfolio management. Can you share a specific example where you identified and resolved a complex technical issue involving multiple systems or platforms? What steps did you take, and what was the outcome?
