Job description

Mac Systems Support Specialist
McLean, VA | Full-Time | On Site
Build Your Apple IT Career
Nerd Up Search is proud to partner with one of the Washington area's most respected boutique technology consulting firms to identify their next Mac Systems Support Specialist.
If you're the person friends, family, or coworkers call when their Mac won't cooperate and you genuinely enjoy figuring out why we'd love to meet you.
This isn't a typical help desk position.
You'll become the primary Apple technology resource for a highly respected consulting firm whose engineers and consultants solve complex problems for organizations in the financial services, healthcare, technology, and investment sectors.
You'll have real ownership, direct visibility with leadership, and the opportunity to continue growing your expertise in macOS, enterprise Apple device management, networking, automation, and systems administration.
We don't expect you to know everything on Day One.
We do expect you to be resourceful, curious, and excited by the challenge of learning something new every week.
What You'll Do
You'll support the Apple technology environment for a collaborative team of professionals who rely on technology every day.
Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Mac computers, iPhones, iPads, and the Apple ecosystem

  • Troubleshooting macOS hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues

  • Deploying, configuring, upgrading, and migrating Mac computers

  • Supporting software engineers, consultants, executives, and other high-visibility users with professionalism and outstanding customer service

  • Managing software installation, licensing, updates, and security

  • Troubleshooting Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, printers, peripherals, conference room technology, and AV equipment

  • Supporting user accounts, permissions, file sharing, backups, and security best practices

  • Managing Mac computers and Apple devices using Jamf Pro, Kandji, Mosyle, AirWatch (Workspace ONE), MaaS360, Microsoft Intune, Munki, Addigy, or similar enterprise MDM platforms

  • Assisting with Apple Business Manager and enterprise device provisioning

  • Researching unfamiliar technical issues and implementing thoughtful, well-tested solutions

  • Identifying opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve workflows

What We're Looking For
You don't need experience with every technology below but you should have experience with many of them and be excited to continue learning.
Apple Technology

  • Professional experience supporting macOS

  • Mac administration and troubleshooting

  • Apple hardware support

  • iPhone and iPad support

  • Apple ecosystem knowledge

Experience with one or more enterprise Apple device management platforms such as:

  • Munki

  • Addigy

Networking
Comfort troubleshooting:

  • TCP/IP

  • Printers and peripherals

  • Basic network infrastructure

Automation & Scripting
Experience with or a strong desire to learn:

  • Python

  • Bash

  • AppleScript

  • Workflow automation

Success in This Role
The people who thrive here:

  • Love solving technical puzzles

  • Figure things out independently before asking for help

  • Communicate well with both technical and non-technical users

  • Stay calm when others are stressed

  • Enjoy supporting executives and high-visibility users

  • Have exceptional customer service skills

  • Take pride in doing things the right way

  • Continue learning long after the workday ends because technology genuinely interests them

Why People Stay
You'll work alongside exceptionally bright engineers and consultants in a collaborative environment where people genuinely enjoy helping one another succeed.
This is an opportunity to build your career not simply answer support tickets.
You'll gain exposure to enterprise Apple technologies, networking, automation, security, and systems administration while working in an environment that values initiative, curiosity, professionalism, and continuous learning.
Benefits
Our client offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
