At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement means every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers by continuously refining how we work. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Be part of the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Project, a large-scale infrastructure and decarbonization initiative supporting long-term terminal growth.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders across government agencies, energy providers, port authorities, and global business functions.

  • Develop expertise in federal, state, and local grant funding programs while contributing to environmental and operational improvements.

  • Access ongoing learning and development opportunities within a global organization focused on continuous improvement.

Project Grant Manager

As Project Grant Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Project and APM Terminals Elizabeth's decarbonization ambitions. The role is responsible for managing the Clean Ports Program sub-award, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and identifying additional funding opportunities that support both financial and environmental objectives. You will act as the primary liaison between APM Terminals, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, government agencies, utility providers, and a broad range of internal stakeholders to ensure successful grant administration and program delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a funding roadmap aligned to project phases, including equipment electrification and infrastructure upgrades.

  • Monitor federal, state, and local funding opportunities and prioritize grants and incentives that support business objectives.

  • Lead the full grant lifecycle, including application development, budgeting, stakeholder coordination, administration, and reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, reporting standards, and applicable regulations across agencies and funding programs.

  • Manage financial reporting, forecasting, performance tracking, and grant-related documentation for the Elizabeth Upgrade Project.

  • Build and maintain relationships with funding bodies, regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and strategic partners.

  • Collaborate with global and local cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Legal, Finance, Tax, Treasury, Energy Transition, and Decarbonization functions.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset-curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.

  • Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in grant writing and administration, including at least 4 years managing large grants exceeding USD 100 million.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal and New Jersey regulatory frameworks, political dynamics, and environmental legislation.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

  • Strong financial acumen, including knowledge of forecasting, cash flow implications, tax considerations, and treasury impacts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.

  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment and working across cultures to achieve shared objectives with integrity and professionalism.

Location: Elizabeth, New Jersey, USA

Salary Range: USD 117,000 - USD 130,000

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and 401(k) match.
