Role Overview:

The Senior Communication Advisor and Media Relations Lead for APM Terminals North America is a senior individual contributor role that is pivotal in increasing visibility and strengthening perception of APM Terminals across priority North America audiences. He or she has full accountability for the design and execution of integrated communication strategies and marketing communications activation, strengthening terminal visibility and perception across customers, government stakeholders, and communities - aligned to APM Terminals' global brand and narrative. The scope covers the North American region, including APM Terminals Elizabeth (Port of New York/New Jersey), APM Terminals Pier 400 (Port of Los Angeles), and APM Terminals Mobile (Port of Alabama).

The role also provides direct communication support to the APM Terminals Americas Regional Managing Director, based in Panama City.

A core dimension of the role is close, daytoday collaboration with Public Affairs to ensure cohesive positioning across media engagement, stakeholder communications, and government and community interfaces. The role is critical in advancing and activating local engagement plans at each terminal, shaping narratives that reflect local realities while reinforcing APM Terminals' global strategy, values, and license to operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and execute integrated regional communication plans aligned to APM Terminals' global communication, marketing, and branding framework

  • Lead media relations across toptier business and trade outlets, managing proactive and reactive engagement, press materials, executive briefings, and terminal tours

  • Develop and activate marketing communications campaigns supporting commercial objectives, including customer acquisition, carrier positioning, and rail service expansion

  • Translate sustainability and decarbonization initiatives into credible, evidencebased external narratives anchored to verified data

  • Provide executive communication support, including speaker preparation, talking points, message maps, and Q&A frameworks for senior leaders

  • Develop and manage internal communication platforms and tools across terminals, enabling effective cascade, engagement, and selfservice communications

  • Manage confidential, issues, and crisis communications in close coordination with Public Affairs, terminal leadership, and global communications teams

What We Are Looking For

  • Extensive experience (15+ years) in senior communications roles within complex, assetheavy or regulated industries, ideally ports, logistics, transportation, or infrastructure

  • Deep media relations expertise with proven success engaging toptier business and trade media and running integrated, outcomedriven campaigns

  • Strong ability to translate complex operational, technical, and sustainability topics into clear, credible public narratives grounded in evidence

  • A trusted advisor profile with experience supporting senior leaders on executive messaging, issues management, and confidential communications

  • Structured, disciplined, and autonomous working style, with strong judgment, digital fluency, and experience leveraging enterprise communication tools and AI

Salary:USD 170,000.00 - 190,000.00

The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws
