Job description

What you'll do: 

As an API Support Specialist, you will work closely with vendors, development teams, and internal stakeholders to design, support, improve, and maintain API integrations that drive seamless financial experiences for our expanding customer base. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and cross-departmental collaboration to meet both business and technical objectives.

In this role you will: 

  • Provide first response technical support to firms through remote assistance calls, addressing vendor inquiries and troubleshooting issues efficiently 
  • Be a first responder to critical system incidents or outages and effectively communicate with partners during these issues 
  • Act as a key contributor to the launch of new products and services, collaborating with Product, Engineering, and other departments 
  • Serve as part of the on-call rotation to respond to outages or partner issues, ensuring reliable coverage and minimal disruption to operations 
  • Maintain active communication and support with API users via customer service channels
  • Take ownership of the cases you handle, following up with vendors to ensure inquiries are resolved completely 
  • Collaborate across multiple departments to ensure technical and business objectives are met 
  • Advocate for developers by driving feature requests and requirements with Product and Engineering teams 
  • Develop and maintain expertise in NinjaTrader's product offerings, technical design, and API capabilities 

What you'll need: 

  • Experience in API Support or 3+ years of software development 
  • Demonstrated expertise with WebSockets, SQL, JSON, or using third-party REST APIs 
  • Demonstrated ability to manager and respond to time-sensitive incidents, including participation in a periodic on-call rotation outside normal business hours
  • Experience with JIRA ticketing systems, GCP logs, and BigQuery are a plus 
  • Experience with Java, C++, .NET, and other programming languages are a plus 
  • A passion for excellent documentation, with strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Experience troubleshooting complex problems, working effectively across multiple teams 
  • Availability for 1st shift hours: 5:00am-2:30pm or 8:00am-4:30pm CST (fairly flexible and customizable) 

Compensation: 

The salary range for this role will be $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 USD. In addition, this position will also receive an annual target bonus of 8%. Bonus pay at NinjaTrader is based on individual performance (50%) as well as company/team performance (50%). 

Salary and bonus earnings are only two components of the total compensation package offered by NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader offers a 401K plan through ADP under which the company will match up to 3.5% of employee contributions. Annual paid time off allowance accrues at a rate of 18 days per year (some positions may qualify for more) plus seven paid holidays.

This role is based in Chicago, IL. *There may be remote flexibility for exceptional candidates in the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, Wisconsin.

Hybrid:

For Chicago-based employees, we follow a hybrid work schedule: In-office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays. In addition to these weekly remote days, we offer: 

  • 20 additional flex remote days annually 
  • 5 Company Wide Office-Optional weeks tied to major holidays
