Effective API Documentation specialists regularly balance thoroughness with conciseness, making judgment calls about how much detail to include. This role can require frequent cross-team collaboration and may involve managing multiple projects with tight deadlines, but it is highly rewarding for those who enjoy enabling developer success and improving user experiences.

What is an API documentation?

An API Documentation job involves creating, maintaining, and improving documentation for Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). API documentation helps developers understand how to use an API, including endpoints, request/response formats, authentication methods, and examples. Professionals in this role work closely with developers and technical writers to ensure accuracy and clarity. Strong writing skills, technical knowledge, and familiarity with API tools like Swagger, Postman, or OpenAPI are often required.
