Job description

Apalachee Center, Inc. provides comprehensive behavioral health services across 8 counties (Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla Counties).

Overview:

Primary role will be insurance verification, communicating with payers/providers, program staff, patients, and insurance companies.ย 

ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ย 

  1. Responsible for verifying clientsโ€™ eligibility, benefits, and insurance coverage for behavioral health services by using the various insurance web portals and clearinghouses and by calling the plans.

  2. Responsible for obtaining copay and deductible amounts and entering the information in the EMR system. ย 

  3. Responsible for acting as a liaison between patients, program staff, and insurance carriers to ensure all information is collected and is correct.

  4. Responsible for answering patient and insurance company inquiries.

  5. Ensures all patient questions are answered and issues are resolved timely by utilizing the appropriate resources.

  6. Assist with reviewing aged receivables report and completing follow-up and adjustments as needed.

  7. Assists in training new employees on verifying insurances.

  8. Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Education/Experience:ย 

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • One year of verifying insurances in a medical office or hospital.
  • Must have excellent telephone/customer relations skills and computer experience
