Job description

Apache Instructor AH-64 D/E "W-TRS" : Ali Al Sale Air Base Kuwait.
Job Overview:
V2X GTS has a requirement for an Instructor /Operator (IO) in support of the Kuwait Air Force (KAF) in Kuwait City, Kuwait (Ali Al Salem Air Base). The IP provides Instructor & Operator (I/O) support, services and TADSS oversight required under W-TRS TDL 025 and reports directly to the in-country V2X-GTS Program Manager. The successful candidate must be a United States citizen, with proof of citizenship and a current U.S. passport. Standard work week is five (5) days per week for up to eight (8) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s).

Responsibilities:
Provides (IO) support, services, and oversight for all KAF TADSS.
  • The Instructor/ Operator (IO) must be a trained and certified aviation educator, able to provide instruction and guidance on the AH-64 model D/E.
  • Instructor Operator provides advanced AH-64D/E flight instruction to student pilots in accordance with the Army Aircrew Training Manual. Instructor Pilots will have IP experience at the company level or above.
  • The training is conducted at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait and includes Kuwaiti students.
  • Prepare simulator flight hour utilization and scheduling reports
  • Support briefings and demonstrations of the simulators by the host nation.
  • Instructs and provides performance evaluations of students in classroom, in flight, and simulator training
  • Conducts pre-flight and in-flight briefings, and post-flight After Action Reviews
  • Conducts end of stage check rides
  • Instructor Pilot services and support to include instruction in aircraft systems, instrument flight, mission scenarios and the operation of the flight management system, and emergency procedures.
  • Services and support shall include instrument flight and mission scenarios, flight management system operations, emergency procedures, fault insertion, Air Traffic Control (ATC) services, and controlling the weather of the simulator.
  • Provide flight instruction, in-flight evaluation, examination, and instruction services. Determine required training objectives and scope, including subjects or tasks to be taught and evaluation criteria. Train pilots to the U.S. Army or host nation standards IAW aviation publications and regulations.
  • Check-in each scheduled aircrew upon their arrival to the facility. Provide the aircrew any requested mission scenario loads to include weather, current aircraft flight planning data, and any other information needed for completion of the mission, as requested.
  • Ensure aircrew has the aircraft specific operational publications and information, required forms, and other flight planning materials for the flight-training period.
  • Remain immediately available to the aircrew throughout the flight-training period. Prior to the training flight, the I/O will review the pilots' flight planning for accuracy, critique/ instruct and answer any questions as requested.
  • Conduct debriefings and grading of the aircrew IAW the applicable Aircrew Training Manual. The I/O will also provide appropriate comments relative to the flight and written comments in the Individual Aircrew Training Folder (IATF) for instrument check rides and any other training/evaluation events requiring written comments. The I/O will instruct the aircrew in techniques and corrective procedures to help avoid error repetition.
  • Provide instruction on day/night/Night Vision Goggles (NVG) contact, emergency procedures, instrument, terrain flight, tactics, gunnery, and aircraft systems and simulated air traffic control services IAW Air Traffic Control Manual, FAA Order 7110.65 for terminal, en-route, and approach and departure control services.
  • Provide existing, modified and/or contractor-developed training tutorials, courseware curriculum and Programs of Instruction (POI) for military and civilian related subjects in English.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for aircrew training manual, aviation procedures and techniques, and all others in the performance of their duties. The I/O will stay knowledgeable on all changes in reference to publications, regulations and procedures, project guidelines, and progress of training. The I/O will recommend changes and improvements to existing courses and publications as required.
  • Develop a flight simulator training Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) describing qualifications, responsibilities, and procedures necessary to ensure a comprehensive flight training and evaluation program.
  • Will assist with maintenance and serviceability assessments of all TADSS weapon simulations equipment.
  • Will regularly interface with FMS customers working at Kuwait installations and provide technical advice and advanced troubleshooting procedures within established guidelines and company responsibilities.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections of the simulator.
  • Conduct operational readiness checks and simulator maintenance test flights.
  • Safeguards and maintains property, materials, and facilities.
  • Ensures that standards, specifications, practices, and quality for all products and services are maintained at the acceptable levels required in the contract.
  • Ensures that Quality Control standards are observed and followed.
  • Provides customer assistance and advice in a proficient and professional manner.
  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information to a diverse group of customers.
  • Coordinate on-site maintenance with the local installations designated Foreign Government representative to deconflict training, exercise, and test schedules with maintenance activities and resolve problems on the devices or at the site.
  • Coordinate LCT Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Generator systems annual services and document results IAW vendor/OEM manuals.
  • Other duties as directed by the V2X Program Manager.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Graduate required u2013 associate or bachelor's Degree desired.
  • Graduate of the U.S. Army AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot and Methods of Instruction course.
  • 5+ years as an aviator required with last AH-64D/E flight within the last 12 months. (Currency or refresher training may be provided as needed).
  • AH-64Ev6 qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1000 hours as pilot in the AH-64D/E.
  • Minimum of 250 hours as Instructor Pilot in the AH-64D/E.
  • Fundamentally computer literate to include (but not limited to) using a personal computer, performing word processing, performing database input, access electronic publications, accessing the world wide web, briefing and debriefing software, and filling out electronic forms and grade sheets.
  • Ability to support periodic travel.
  • Must be familiar with the operation of a military flight training base.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lift a maximum of 50 pounds.

Certifications:
  • Must have and maintain a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) second-class Medical Certificate through the duration of the contract or, if a member of the National Guard or Reserves, an Army Class 2 Flight Duty Medical Exam (FDME).

Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under training devices.
  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the surrounding environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to meet requirements to obtain Work Permit and Residency Visa in Kuwait.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, able to obtain a US Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Kuwait Driver's License.
  • Applicant may be required to travel and will be required to work in compliance with OSHA and V2X Safety policies and procedures.
  • Must possess a US Passport with at least 2 years of remaining eligibility.
  • Walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to 8-hours/day & sit for up to 3 hours/day; climb/descend stairs; grasp or handle objects; use finger dexterity; bend elbows/knees; reach above/below shoulders; read/interpret typewritten print; communicate by voice & detect sound by ear.
