Job description

A county Department of Mental Health in New York's Hudson Valley region is seeking a board-certified psychiatrist to serve as an independent evaluator for its Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) program. This long-term, supplemental role offers consistent, flexible additional income without requiring a full caseload. The position is ideal for a provider already working in the region who is comfortable with forensic and statutory evaluation work.

Practice Info

  • The program currently carries approximately 9 active AOTs and anticipates 12 or more evaluation events annually.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct AOT evaluations averaging 45 to 60 minutes each
  • Assess whether individuals meet statutory criteria for court-ordered outpatient treatment
  • Provide in-person courtroom testimony when new petitions or renewals require it
