Job description

Summary Degree Audit Analyst manages and oversees the day-to-day support of the degree audit and degree planning systems (uAchieve and other supporting third party systems). This includes accurately interpreting, programing, verifying, and maintaining degree requirements (majors, minors, concentrations) in the degree audit system. Assists with degree audit system and degree planning system upgrades, including recommending enhancements.

Gathers and analyzes data to prepare business process and procedural and end-user documentation. Participates in the development and enhancement of on-line applications as well as in the resolution of degree audit system problems and issues. Devises curriculum planning for the degree audit and degree planning systems in collaboration with unit leadership, faculty and with other departments/colleges.

Ensures system catalog updates are approved and completed in a timely fashion. Collaborates to ensure proper programing of transfer articulation requirements and troubleshooting of any business process or system issues. Works to improve technical functionality, interfaces, and reports for managed functions and programs.

Essential Functions Serves as the campus lead for Degree Audit and planning, and is the subject expert on the functionality of the degree audit system. Coordinates and participates in the planning, development, implementation, documentation, administration and maintenance of the degree audit system for the University; serves as the main contact regarding all matters impacting the degree audit portion of the system. Lead encoder for the University, college and degree requirements, NCAA and other specialty programs needed to monitor or promote student success and degree completion; responsible for the encoding of requirements for undergraduate, graduate and specialty programs; may include the writing of all or a portion of functional specifications.

Engages in critical analysis of student data and degree program requirements; identifies and resolves substantial issues which may span multiple areas across degree audit and the student information system. Works closely with end users and other curricular staff to ensure accuracy of encoding; works with third party vendors as necessary to maintain and improve degree audit and planning system functionality. Participates in and helps organize testing and upgrades for the degree audit system, including writing and maintaining test plans; participates in analyzing and testing the impact of system upgrades and maintenance to the student information system on the degree audit system.

Provides technical and functional support to the University wide community using the degree audit and planning system; researches academic program requirements and works closely with curriculum forms that have been submitted and approved to ensure proper encoding; oversees the development and administration of operating policies and procedures concerning the degree audit system; in conjunction with others in the area, reviews and advises on applicable rules, regulations, guidelines and University policies; collects and analyzes data, creates reports and reviews trends; recommends ways to achieve the success goals of the University or a particular program. Provides support as needed to the processing of academic exceptions by responding to any inquiries regarding system encoding and its impact on exception encoding. Develops and prepares appropriate materials to promote the degree audit system to the University community including training materials, handouts, reference guides and forms.

Maintains currency of professional knowledge; participates in the evaluation of new technologies, attends professional development conferences and training classes to keep up to date on system development and encoding practices; maintains a working knowledge of current student information system capabilities and applies knowledge where necessary to enhance degree audit and planning processing.
