Job description

Sonder is a hi-fi listening bar and Southeast Asian restaurant on N. Spurgeon St. in Downtown Santa Ana. The host is the first person every guest meets, so you set the tone for the whole night. We're fun and motivated, looking for someone whose energy matches.

Schedule
Thursday through Saturday, plus some Sunday evenings. Shifts start at 4:30 PM. Nights and weekends.

What you'll do

  • Greet guests as they arrive and make them feel like they found the right place
  • Run the reservation book and waitlist in OpenTable, quote honest wait times, and keep guests posted while they wait
  • Seat guests to keep service moving, and work with servers and the bar to time seatings and turn tables
  • Walk guests to their table, hand off menus, and answer first questions about the food and the room
  • Take phone calls and reservation questions
  • Keep the host stand, menus, and entrance clean and organized through the shift
  • At close, clear the reservation queue, tidy the entrance, and pass guest notes to management for the next day

What we're looking for

  • Reads the room and stays a step ahead
  • Communicates well in person and on the phone
