Job description

Mytonomy is seeking an experienced Clinical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Orthopedics to support the development, review, and continuous improvement of evidence-based patient education content.
Working collaboratively with our Clinical Content team, Production team, and Medical Directors, the Orthopedic SME will provide clinical expertise throughout the content development lifecycle to ensure all educational materials are accurate, current, patient-centered, and aligned with national standards of care.
This is an excellent opportunity for clinicians who are passionate about patient education and improving healthcare through innovative digital engagement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the clinical expert for orthopedic patient education programs.
  • Collaborate with clinical and content teams to identify priorities for new educational modules and content updates.
  • Review clinical outlines, scripts, written education, animations, graphics, and video content for medical accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all content reflects current evidence-based guidelines, professional society recommendations, and standards of care.
  • Recommend updates as clinical guidelines, technologies, or best practices evolve.
  • Provide supporting peer-reviewed references and clinical evidence used during content development and revision.
  • Participate in clinical review meetings and provide timely feedback throughout the production process.
  • Support the development of patient-friendly educational materials by translating complex medical concepts into clear, understandable language.
  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives for Mytonomy's clinical content library.
  • Serve as a member of Mytonomy's National Clinical Advisor Network for future PRN clinical review and advisory opportunities.

Required Qualifications
  • MD, DO, PA-C with significant orthopedic clinical experience with over 5 years in the specialty.
  • Current clinical practice in Orthopedics.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based orthopedic care and national clinical guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of patient education principles and health literacy.
  • Ability to critically evaluate clinical literature and translate scientific evidence into patient-friendly educational content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to clinical accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple reviews while meeting established deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical leadership experience.
  • Academic faculty appointment or teaching experience.
  • Experience developing or reviewing patient education materials.
  • Familiarity with digital health, patient engagement technologies, or healthcare communications.
  • Experience participating in clinical guideline development, research, or publication.
  • Interest in leveraging AI-enabled tools to support clinical content development while maintaining rigorous human clinical oversight.
