Job description

Veterinarian I – Pork Live Production (Remote)

Remote

This position is a remote position with some travel to locations such as Indiana and Western Ohio

Logansport, IN, US

This position is primarily responsible for direct interaction with company producers and the oversight of health-related protocols for wean-to-market operations located in the Midwest. The position will handle health-related farm issues, determine both immediate and long-term action plans to address these issues and communicate that with both production management as well as Tech Services. Responsibilities include working with farm personnel to assess health issues and coordinating with the Technical Services department to develop strategies that address those issues; collaboratively developing improved processes around production management, health management, and biosecurity; conducting farm assessments and evaluations; and assisting in training farms on proper implementation of established health-related SOP's.

Requirements:

Education: Must hold a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) and be eligible to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.

Experience: No previous experience is necessary. Candidates must possess a DVM or VMD degree or meet the qualifications to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; may require use of the Tyson Business Computer System.

Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.

Special Skills: Requires licensure or willingness to obtain licensure in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and potentially other Midwest states. Also requires USDA accreditation for the same states as licensure.

Supervisory: None.

Travel: 10 or more domestic trips per year.

Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting facilities it is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.

Biosecurity: When visiting jobsites bio secure environments showering before entering the facilities is required. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
