This position can be hybrid based in Yarmouth, MA or Remote in the US

IFAW’s mid-level program is a strategic priority, aiming to raise $10m annually by 2030.  This role plays a key part in that growth by engaging donors across the United States who are not currently assigned to a portfolio and identifying those who are ready for deeper involvement and increased giving. This role will be responsible for increasing unrestricted revenue in the United States. 

The Fundraising Engagement Coordinator will work with donors who give between $500 - $1,000, building trust, sharing meaningful updates about IFAW’s work, and assessing readiness to move into higher giving tiers.  This contact and relationship building will inspire increased giving and commitment from this group of supporters, positioning IFAW as the donor’s charity of choice. The Coordinator will be passionate about animal welfare and individual donor engagement. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to build relationships with diverse donors in the US, as well as a small cohort of global donors.

Reporting to the Senior Leadership Giving Manager, the Coordinator will work globally and collaborate closely with colleagues across Development, including Direct Marketing, Digital, Major Gifts, Legacy Giving, and regional country offices. Working from a remote office, s/he will have support from staff in IFAW’s Washington, D.C. Headquarters and Yarmouth Port, MA International Operations Center.  

Role and Responsibilities 

Donor Engagement + Relationship Building 

  • Develop a strong understanding of IFAW’s program, campaigns, and priorities to effectively communicate impact and align donor interests with your communications.
  • Engage mid-level donors, who are not in portfolios, through personalized outreach (phone, email, mail, and digital channels) to deepen their connection to IFAW.
  • Fully understand the entire mid-level strategy and communication plan, collaborating with all mid-level marketing channel managers to ensure your personal outreach is enhancing mass communications.
  • Identify donors who demonstrate readiness for portfolio assignment or increased philanthropic assignment.
  • Manage and personalize new mid-level donor welcome materials and gift acknowledgments, on a weekly basis.
  • Create timely, interest-based communications using multiple channels to enhance the donor experience.

Pipeline Building + Collaboration 

  • Identify donors with major gift and/or legacy potential and collaborate with the Major Gift and Legacy teams to support donor advancement.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Giving manager, identify donors for research working with the Prospect Development Director, and develop a seamless process to facilitate donors moving through moves management to donor audience managers (mid-level, annual fund donors, sustainers, etc.)
  • Partner with regional gift officers to plan and execute small-scale donor gatherings and engagement opportunities
  • Participate in international mid-level team meetings, sharing insights and recommendations to strengthen the global program.

Operational Excellence 

  • Respond to donor inquiries (phone, email, mail) within 24 hours to ensure a high-quality donor experience.
  • Maintain accurate and timely donor records and interactions in HubSpot and BBCRM.
  • Represent IFAW’s brand with clarity, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
  • Support additional projects and tasks, as assigned by the Senior Leadership Giving Manager.

Remain current on: 

  • IFAW programs, campaigns, and emergency response efforts, including marketing and fundraising efforts
  • Animal welfare issues and IFAW’s position statements
  • Fundraising trends, donor engagement best practices, and mid-level giving benchmarks
  • Relevant financial policies, tax regulations, and charity watchdog standards

Qualifications and Educational Requirements 

  • Experience cultivating donor or customer relationships; nonprofit fundraising experience preferred.
  • Strong judgment, integrity, and ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Event planning experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fundraising techniques and moves management strategies
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and BBCRM. Experience with HubSpot is also a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to IFAW offices and donor events.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for global calls or donor activities.
  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to IFAW’s mission.
