What is an analytics manager?

An analytics manager translates raw data into insights that a business can use. Usually leading a team of analysts, your job duties include developing data analysis strategies, tracking and reporting on performance, implementing tools and solutions, and overseeing all analytics operations. You must stay up-to-date on current industry trends. Strong communication and analytical skills are required. Other qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in statistics, data management, or information technology and proven career experience in market research, statistical modelings, or project management.

How does an analytics manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business insights?

Analytics Managers frequently work alongside teams such as marketing, product development, finance, and operations to translate data into actionable business strategies. They facilitate meetings to understand stakeholder goals, guide data collection efforts, and present findings in a way that's accessible to non-technical audiences. This cross-functional collaboration ensures that insights are aligned with business objectives and that projects are implemented effectively. Strong communication and project management skills are essential for success in this collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an analytics manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Analytics Manager, you need strong analytical skills, data interpretation expertise, leadership experience, and typically a degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with analytics platforms (such as Tableau, Power BI), programming languages (like SQL, Python, or R), and data management systems is essential, along with relevant certifications such as Google Analytics or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP). Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help you translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies. These competencies ensure data-driven decision-making, effective team leadership, and impactful business outcomes.

Job Description
The Senior Manager, Data Analytics leads the global Supply Chain analytics function to deliver trusted KPI reporting, executive insights, and AI-enabled decision support across the end-to-end supply chain. This role blends people leadership, hands-on analytics expertise, and strategic influence-owning the analytics roadmap and ongoing prioritization, building scalable Power BI and Power Platform solutions, and partnering closely with Supply Chain leaders and IT to turn data into insight, action, and value.
You will work a hybrid schedule at our facility in Milwaukee, WI and report to the Senior Director, Digital Transformation.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Own the analytics portfolio: Define and maintain the analytics roadmap, manage global demand intake and prioritization, and deliver a focused set of high-value dashboards and analyses aligned to Supply Chain priorities.
  • Executive partnership & influence: Translate VP- and Director-level business needs into clear, actionable outcomes; act as a trusted analytics advisor to senior Supply Chain leaders.
  • Deliver executive-ready insights: Produce clear KPI narratives and decision materials for operating rhythms (e.g., weekly and monthly performance reviews), translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Global supply chain performance analytics: Drive visibility and analysis across supply chain domains (service, inventory, demand/supply performance, logistics and distribution), including root-cause and variance analysis.
  • Standardize KPIs and governance: Establish and maintain KPI definitions, data quality controls, refresh reliability, and documentation to ensure consistent and trusted global reporting.
  • Scale Power BI and self-service analytics: Lead development of Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and reporting standards; enable self-service through templates, training, and governance.
  • Partner on modern data platforms: Work closely with IT and data engineering teams to translate analytics requirements into curated, analytics-ready datasets using modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks).
  • Apply AI to analytics (practical, business-first): Identify and implement AI-enabled analytics capabilities such as anomaly detection, intelligent alerts, automated insight generation, and guided root-cause exploration, focused on measurable business impact.
  • Govern data, BI and AI usage: Develop and maintain data and analytics governance practices across ISC, including appropriate use of AI within analytics workflows.
  • Lead and develop talent: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing global team of analysts and BI developers; own performance management, capability building, and engagement.
  • Drive adoption and value realization: Influence across functions to ensure analytics products are adopted, understood, and delivering tangible business value; reduce manual reporting through automation and rationalization.

The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, data science, or business-related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, BI, or data-driven roles with progressive responsibility, including people leadership.
  • Strong experience building and operationalizing Power BI dashboards, metrics, and reporting for business stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of modern data environments and transformations (e.g., SQL-based data preparation, curated datasets, data pipelines), including exposure to platforms such as Databricks.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex data insights clearly and influence decisions with stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Supply Chain analytics experience (planning, inventory, sourcing, logistics, distribution, cost-to-serve, etc.).
  • Experience enabling self-service analytics and/or standard KPI frameworks across global organizations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform beyond Power BI (Power Apps and Power Automate) to streamline analytics workflows.
  • Experience leveraging AI capabilities in data analytics, such as AI-assisted insight generation, anomaly detection, intelligent alerts, automated narrative summaries, or similar applied AI use cases.
