As an Analytics Intern within our Pharmacy Benefits Consulting team in our San Diego Health practice, you will support project teams by preparing, validating, and analyzing healthcare and pharmacy data to generate insights that inform client recommendations. You will work with experienced consultants, actuaries, and analysts while developing practical skills in data analysis, problem solving, and professional communication.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

  • Clean, transform, and reconcile health and pharmacy benefits data.
  • Apply statistical techniques and, where appropriate, develop simple models to identify trends, outliers, and drivers.
  • Build and update Excel-based analyses and outputs; support quality checks and version control.
  • Conduct research on pharmacy and healthcare topics (e.g., formularies, utilization, rebates, specialty drugs) and share findings with the team.
  • Collaborate with team members on ad hoc requests and special projects; participate in team meetings and status updates.
  • Prepare charts, tables, and written summaries to support internal reviews and client deliverables.

          What We Are Looking For

          Required Qualifications:

          • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s (or master’s) degree program in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data science, engineering, public health).
          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
          • Ability to explain analyses to non-technical audiences.
          • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
          • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, well-documented work.

            Preferred Qualifications:

            • Some experience with any programming language a plus (SQL, T-SQL, R, Python, Pandas).
            • Familiarity with healthcare and/or pharmacy benefits (PBM concepts, claims data, benefit design).
            • Exposure to statistics coursework (regression, hypothesis testing) and basic data storytelling.
            • Prior internship, project, or research experience involving messy real-world datasets.

            The Team

            The San Diego Health practice includes employees with diverse areas of experience and expertise in the pharmacy space. Current employees include actuaries, PBM analysts/consultants, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. 

            Location

            The expected application deadline for this job is May 4, 2026. This position is based out of the Milliman office in San Diego, California. Candidates hired into this role must be willing to work onsite full-time.

            Compensation

            The hourly range for this role is $21 - $43. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
