Summary:
The Associate Director, Advanced Analytics, focuses on extracting insights from various commercial data sources leveraging advanced analytics techniques and tools to support business decision making across marketing, sales, finance, and managed care. Key stakeholders include the Marketing team, Portfolio Strategy, Managed Care and Access teams, Field teams, Commercial Operations, IT, Finance, and Medical Affairs. This role reports to the Senior Director, Commercial Data & Advanced Analytics. The responsibilities include but are not limited to driving in-line and pipeline insights, conducting measurement studies to optimize spend, building predictive models to optimize field and digital promotions, analyzing provider and payer contracts, participating in high-profile strategic assessments, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive comprehensive strategies across commercial and advanced analytics. The scope may cover our in-line products including EXPAREL, ZILRETTA, and iovera, pipeline projects including PCRX-201, partnership assessments, and potential M&A opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable advanced data analytics, predictive modeling, the analysis of market trends and the competitive landscape, and will partner work closely across the insights and commercial data analytics team to uncover opportunities to generate further value for patients and address unmet needs in the pain and regenerative health space.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.
-With minimal guidance, deliver impactful commercial advanced analytics projects to guide business decision making.
-Answer key business questions and identify business opportunities by analyzing data from industry (e.g., anonymized, longitudinal patient claims data, remittance claims, payer policy and lives data etc.) and internal (e.g., field, and digital customer interactions, sales data) sources.
-Translate insights gleaned from advanced analytics into clear and compelling recommendations for non-technical audiences.
-Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Insights & Analytics, Marketing, Managed Care, Field, Commercial Operations, and IT to deliver on advanced analytics projects.
-Beyond core activities, advanced analytics deliverables may include the following:
  • Market access and contracting analytics, including payer-plan segmentation, pull-through analysis, rebate optimization, and evaluation of contract effectiveness across payer, GPO, IDN, and customer agreements.
  • Analysis of contracted customer performance, including utilization trends, compliance, pre/post contract impact, and identification of opportunities to improve access, pull-through, and net revenue outcomes.
  • Patient analytics using Real-World Data sources such as anonymized longitudinal patient claims data, lab/diagnostic testing data, etc.
  • Evaluation and optimization of channel performance and ROIs of digital channels in an omnichannel environment.
  • Transforming business goals into measurable KPIs and supporting the development of statistical analysis and analytical plans on multichannel/digital marketing activities
  • Marketing mix modeling & promotion response
  • Development of predictive models to anticipate customer needs, improve customer experience, and optimize promotional efforts across field and digital channels.
  • Standardization and automation of recurring data analytics requests

-Oversee development of dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc analyses to support commercial decision-making.
-Keep abreast of key market events, competitor activities, and work to understand potential impact.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree required; Science, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, Business, Economics, Healthcare or Healthcare Informatics concentration preferred; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of business scalable advanced analytics tools and capabilities.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or pharma / healthcare consulting with a focus on one or more areas of advanced analytics, data science, or business analytics
• Prior experience working in management consulting preferred.
• Prior experience in orthopedic markets, anesthesia, or closely related specialty preferred.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful advanced analytics projects across a diverse product portfolio, wide range of internal stakeholders, and various commercial areas including portfolio strategy, pipeline planning, managed care, marketing, medical affairs, commercial operations, and field execution
  • Experienced working knowledge of commercial data sources and tools relevant to pharmaceutical industry (e.g., Veeva, IQVIA, SHA, MMIT)
  • Deep healthcare industry knowledge (i.e., managed care, patient, provider, pharma company, pharma / biotech technology, and disease area trends)
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills to partner with peers on interdepartmental initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in complex, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Strong Analytical skills. Ability to work with complex data sets, formulate an analysis plan to derive insights, and solve critical questions
  • Ability to translate insights gleaned from advanced analytics projects into clear messages and recommendations for non-technical audiences
  • Statistical programming experience with Python, R, or similar
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with cloud data infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft Azure or similar)
  • Experience working with business intelligence platforms such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong critical thinking and structured, problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills
  • Solid financial and business acumen; analytical mindset; demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Pay Transparency
The base pay range for this role is $155,000 per year to $213,000 per year. The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications. Depending on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered.
