Primary Job Purpose
The Data Reporting Analyst serves as a data and analytic consultant for functional business areas by collecting and analyzing operation and financial data. Presents findings on any trends and assists business leaders with forecasting in support of evidence-based decision making.
General Functions and Outcomes
  • Provides analytical support to any or all divisions of the organization by mining data, conducting analysis, and interpreting results related to business needs.
  • Develops methodologies and approaches to new tasks and projects through design and development of analytical models and reports.
  • Proactively identify issues and concerns to management.
  • Develops knowledge of health plan operations, health plan data sources and structures, and cost containment strategies.
  • Identifies problems or needed changes, recommends resolution, and participates in quality improvement efforts.
  • Identifies needed reporting, assembles or directs the assembly of reports and distributes such information.
  • Performs acceptance testing of new reports, programs and models.
  • Documents business requirements and methods used to generate work output.
  • Drives analytic innovation and best practices within Cambia.
  • Actively identifies and eliminates inefficient or ineffective use of resources and provides recommendation on process improvements.
  • May supervise the gathering and analysis of information.
  • Serve as a resource on analytic programming tools and methods.
  • Reviews data as it relates to health plan operations to assist with the development of cost containment strategies.
  • May assist in training of other team members.

Data Reporting Analyst Senior - Additional Responsibilities
  • Oversee and direct analysts on a project basis and assist in the training of staff as it relates to these projects.
  • Lead meetings with internal and external constituents.
  • Design, develop, and direct the performance of acceptance testing of new reports, programs, and models.
  • Architect and oversee the development of sophisticated analytical models and enterprise-level reporting solutions.
  • Establish and maintain data governance standards and best practices within the analytics team.
  • Develop and implement advanced analytical methodologies that become team standards.

Data Reporting Analyst Senior II - Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical authority for complex analytical projects, providing direction and oversight to team members.
  • Partner with business leaders to translate strategic objectives into actionable analytical frameworks.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and serve as the primary analytical subject matter expert in strategic planning sessions.
  • Identify and champion enhancement opportunities in data architecture, data mining, and ETL processes and tools.
  • Champion process automation and efficiency improvements across the analytics function.
  • Create and maintain centers of excellence for key analytical tools and processes.
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of new analytical tools and technologies, driving adoption of emerging technologies across the team.
  • Design and oversee quality assurance protocols for team deliverables.

Minimum Requirements
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to perform difficult analytical tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of health plan operations, data sources, and data structures within the business area.
  • Knowledge of data mining tools and methods (SAS, OLAP) including server reporting services (SPSS, Minitab, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of analytic programming tools and methods (SAS, SQL, OLAP, Business Objects, Crystal).
  • Proven ability to design and develop reporting tools and dashboards.
    Business sense across finance, accounting, economics, risk management, public health economics, social service research, or epidemiology.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize assignments within multiple projects, working with minimal direction in a fast-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated success with project management and proven ability to document business requirements.
  • Advanced oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making in professional settings highly desired.

Data Reporting Analyst Senior - Additional Requirements
  • Highly advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with progressively responsible experience in leadership roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of data mining and analytic programming tools and methods (SAS, SQL, OLAP, Business Objects, Crystal).
  • Well-developed business sense across finance, accounting, economics, risk management, public health economics, social service research, or epidemiology.
  • Ability to represent the division visibly in internal meetings as a leadership presence.

Data Reporting Analyst Senior II
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, computer science or related field and 10 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

The expected hiring range for a Data Reporting Analyst is $69,700 - $93,400 salary depending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure/certifications; and performance history. The bonus target for this position is 10%. The current full salary range for this role is $65,000 - $107,000.
The expected hiring range for a Data Reporting Analyst Senior is $92,600 - $124,200 salary depending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure/certifications; and performance history. The bonus target for this position is 15%. The current full salary range for this role is $87,000 - $142,000.
The expected hiring range for a Data Reporting Analyst Senior II is $111,300 - $149,300 salary depending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure/certifications; and performance history. The bonus target for this position is 15%. The current full salary range for this role is $104,000 - $171,000.
