Job description

Opiniion is a resident experience tool that partners with property management to create better living experiences for their residents. Our platform has helped thousands of property managers collect and act on real-time feedback, improve resident experiences, and enhance their online reputation. Opiniion is committed to exceptional service and innovation, earning recognition as one of Americaโ€™s fastest-growing private companies. Driven by a forward-thinking team, weโ€™re shaping the future of resident engagement. Our continued growth and commitment to innovation make this an exciting time to be part of our team!

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is where a data career starts at Opiniion.

Youโ€™ll join Internal Systems, the team that owns Opiniionโ€™s data platform end to end, reporting to the Analytics Platform Manager, the person who built it. Your work is modeling, not dashboards: youโ€™ll maintain the data models behind the numbers this company runs on, revenue, retention, resident satisfaction, and portfolio performance, with reporting downstream of what you build. Your models will feed the numbers Finance, Sales, and Customer Success bring to leadership, making company-wide impact.

Weโ€™re looking for someone curious enough to ask why a number looks the way it does before trusting it, and ready to own their work. In return, youโ€™ll get real mentorship on a team small enough that nothing stands between you and the interesting problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Data modeling

  • Build and maintain data models in dbt on Databricks, in a version-controlled repository with code review on every change.
  • Write tests and documentation alongside your models rather than after them.
  • Learn the layered structure of the warehouse and where a given piece of logic belongs in it.

Investigation and root cause analysis

  • Trace numbers back to their source when two reports disagree, and write up what you find so the next person does not repeat the work.
  • Ask the questions that surface a shaky definition before it reaches a customer-facing report.

Data quality and cleanup

  • Work through the platformโ€™s remediation backlog as your judgment develops: retiring duplicated metric definitions, deprecating columns that cannot be aggregated correctly, and relocating models that sit in the wrong layer.
  • Speak up when you spot something inconsistent rather than working around it.

Business partnership

  • Work with Finance, Sales, and Customer Success to turn a metric somebody described in a meeting into a metric that is actually defined.
  • Explain a number clearly to someone who did not build it.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Comfort writing SQL on your own: joins, filtering, grouping, and aggregation. We will teach you window functions and incremental logic.
  • Curiosity about where a number came from before you use it. This one matters most to us.
  • Clear writing. A good share of this job is explaining data to people who do not work in it.
  • Comfort with version control, or the confidence that you can pick it up quickly.
  • Something technical you have finished and can talk about: coursework, a portfolio project, a bootcamp capstone, or analytical work inside a previous role.
  • An eye for detail, and the patience to get something right before getting it quick.

HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • A degree in information systems, statistics, economics, computer science, or a related field. We care more about how you reason about data than where you learned to.
  • Any exposure to dbt, Databricks, Snowflake, or a comparable data warehouse.
  • Python.
  • Experience with a BI tool, though we care more about what feeds the dashboard than the dashboard itself.
  • Familiarity with property management, multifamily housing, or SaaS subscription billing.

If you are early in your data career, ask good questions, and want to learn this craft properly from people who will actually review your work, we would love to hear from you!

OPINIIONโ€™S CULTURE:

At Opiniion, we take our work seriously, but we donโ€™t take ourselves too seriously! We work hard together, and we have a lot of fun doing it. We are a team that believes in real autonomy: you own your area, solve problems, and move fast enough to actually see the change you make. The people here are invested in each other just as much as theyโ€™re invested in the work, and that combination is what makes this place different. We believe in collaboration, innovation, and building a team that truly caresโ€”about our clients, their residents, and each other.

BENEFITS SNAPSHOT:
  • Comprehensive healthcare plans, encompassing medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with group life coverage. Opiniion covers 40-90% of the premium cost for employees and all dependents.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 100% corporate match on the first 1% and 50% match on the next 5%.
  • Pre-tax Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
  • Paid Parental Leave for all new parents (including adoption or foster care).
  • 10 Paid Holidays annually.
  • Monthly Wellness Reimbursement benefit.

*Note that the above benefits are available only to full-time employees of Opiniion*

Opiniion is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind based on actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, sex or gender (including pregnancy, childbirth and pregnancy-related conditions), gender identity or expression (including transgender status), sexual orientation, marital status, military service and veteran status, physical or mental disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws and ordinances.
