HOME AUDIO REPAIR TECHNICIAN - Repair of HiFi Gear

Audiophiles & Music Lovers Wanted

The Music Room is the world’s largest dedicated reseller of pre-owned HiFi Audio Gear. We are a team of music lovers who are dedicated to a singular mission: delivering the very best online shopping experience in the HiFi industry. We feel that there is nothing more fulfilling than creating a high-performance, 2-channel HiFi system on any budget with carefully selected used components, speakers and cables. Currently, we are seeking to add additional testers and repair technicians to our quality assurance team.


Job Description

The Music Room specializes in HOME AUDIO (not studio, live sound or pro gear), and we process components and speakers from a very wide array of brands and categories - spanning current to “vintage” technology.


REPAIR TECH: When our testers uncover an issue or other opportunities to bring the unit up to our high standards, the product generally needs to be seen by one of our qualified repair technicians. The repair tech is responsible for diagnosing, refurbishing and repairing equipment and documenting required details and updates in our ticketing system.


Job duties will include diagnosis and repair of high-end consumer audio equipment, such as amplifiers, speakers, turntables, streamers, tuners and more. Candidates must possess basic knowledge of electronics theory, including principles of voltage, current, Ohm's Law, and the essential functions of components such as resistors, capacitors and transistors. Candidates must also be familiar with the use of test equipment including multimeters and oscilloscopes to perform diagnosis to component level. Specific experience in repairing consumer HiFi audio equipment (or pro audio equivalents) required. Candidates must have experience with component-level troubleshooting of audio electronics as well as soldering.


The essential functions for REPAIR TECHS include, but are not limited to the following:


● Knowledge of amplifier circuitry and circuits

● Experience repairing consumer electronics (non-computer) and PCB soldering

● Evaluating units deemed in need of repair..

● Documenting all phases of the repair in the ticketing system

● Coordinating with customer facing teams and responding to questions as needed

● Ordering and maintaining parts inventory

● Getting creative, such as scavenging parts from aged-out or unrepairable equipment to facilitate repairs on other equipment

● Coordinating with team members to facilitate shipping and receiving repair items

● Managing inventory hygiene of repair backlog

Wages:

This position has a starting range of $50k(depending on the role, qualifications and experience).
