American Power Innovations, a well-established manufacturer of electrical products and skid mounted equipment is seeking candidates for the position of Wiring Technician

To the successful candidate we offer a competitive compensation package that includes company paid health insurance, 11 paid holidays and a 401K plan. Typical hours are 6-4:30, Monday thru Thursday with some overtime. 45hrs per week should be expected.

Control Panel Technician

The Panel Technician is responsible for the physical assembly and wiring of UL-508A industrial control panels. The Panel Technician will build panels to print including lying out and physically mounting devices to back panels, wiring per print and testing the panel to ensure that it is built according to plan. The Panel Technician must be able to understand the fundamentals of electricity and read an electrical schematic. Must be familiar with and comfortable using a variety of hand and power tools. Lifting up to forty pounds is required for this position. The Panel Technician is expected to take pride in his or her work, paying close attention to detail and taking initiative to constantly learn new things and strive to make the entire team successful

Essential Functions

  • Dimensionally lay out back panels and externally mounted devices
  • Mount devices to back panels and enclosures using a variety of methods including drilling and tapping steel
  • Operate computerized terminal, wire labeling and engraving equipment
  • Wire panel devices according to provided electrical schematics
  • Route and bundle wires and cables neatly and according to established electrical standards
  • Check work to ensure error-free products
  • Keep red-lines of any changes required during manufacturing and turn in to supervisor on completion of the project
  • Maintain a neat, tidy and safe workplace
  • Responsibly handle tools provided by the company
  • Wear proper PPE as required at all times
  • Travel to job sites as required to install panels, provide warranty support or generally assist in any onsite duties as required

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Basic computer skills
