Position Title: American Sign Language (ASL) – English interpreter

Campus: All Campuses

Department: Disability Services (Title 504)

Full-time, Part-time, Adjunct Part Time Exempt or Non-Exempt Regular,Temporary, or Grant Regular

The interpreter will interpret English to ASL and interpret ASL to English for deaf students. Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities: Interpret ASL to English and English to ASL for deaf students during class, for meetings with professors and other faculty/staff members, at college events and as needed for situations at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ.

Education Requirements: Associate’s degree required. National certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf required.

Experience: Experience working with a diverse population preferred.

• Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and student body
• Ability to deal with broad range of student population at different developmental life stages.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

• Physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• Some travel required.

Salary: $75.00 per hour
