Job description

The AIM (Analytics, Investment & Marketing Enablement) team - a part of GCS Marketing - is the analytical engine that enables the Global Commercial Services portfolio of American Express. Accelerating growth momentum, increasing profitability, and strengthening our value proposition are key objectives for this organization.

This Analyst role will join the Data Quality & Data Products team within AIM and will develop analytical solutions that enhance targeting, acquisition, engagement, and prospecting effectiveness across commercial channels. In this role, you will be challenged with enriching the quality of commercial data elements for usage in targeting and creating world class data products by leveraging machine learning and other advanced methodologies. The role involves working across a diverse analytical toolkit-including advanced machine learning, predictive modeling, optimization, and Generative AI-to build solutions that improve decisioning and drive measurable business impact. The individual will act as a solution owner, accountable for problem framing, model development, deployment readiness, and ongoing performance monitoring.

The ideal candidate will translate business questions into well-structured analytical approaches, deliver high-quality insights, and influence strategic decision-making through clear communication and strong cross-functional alignment. Operating in a highly collaborative environment, the role ensures that analytical solutions and Generative AI solutions are designed responsibly and adhere to Amex standards for data integrity and model governance.

The below represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Finance, or Economics.
  • 1+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, decision science, or related quantitative roles.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience developing machine learning models and analytical solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver clear insights and collaborate across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, decision science, or related quantitative roles.
  • Experience developing AI/ML, NLP, or Generative AI/LLM-based solutions.
  • Experience building scalable analytical workflows and production-ready solutions.
  • Prior experience in marketing analytics, commercial analytics, or financial services.

Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions.

  • Create and implement analytical solutions on enriching data quality for usage across analytics and targeting. Work with external data vendors to evaluate external data for small businesses incl. signals, inflection points and establish the proof of concept on investing in purchasing the data to improve/enrich commercial targeting.
  • Collaborate with Decision Science and Capabilities teams to build analytical solutions to improve coverage & accuracy of key data elements which are critical inputs into models and marketing/Sales campaigns.
  • Create innovative data products encompassing commercial prospect and customer targeting use-cases, to drive profitable acquisition and engagement strategy (few examples of data products include - Product/Channel Propensity, Best Time to Call or Lead Quality Index (LQI), identifying commercial expense categories etc.)
  • Develop scalable AI/ML and Generative AI solutions (including, but not limited to, NLP- and LLM-based workflows) that drive improvements in prospect identification, routing, personalization and engagement effectiveness across commercial channels with a focus on production deployment, standardization, cost efficiency, and reuse across multiple use cases.
