Job Title: Junior Accountant Department: Finance
Reports to: Assistant Controller
Location: Bonanza Mine Site
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Thursday
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Salary

Position Summary

The Junior Accountant embodies personal responsibility by accurately recording financial transactions, preparing reports, and contributing to AGC's financial decisions. They are accountable for maintaining financial accuracy and transparency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Junior Accountant assists with day-to-day accounting functions, month-end close support, financial reporting preparation, reconciliations, and audit documentation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Financial Reporting Support: Assist with the preparation of financial statements, schedules, reports, and supporting analyses for review by the Assistant Controller.

  • General Ledger Management: Participate in month end close, maintain the general ledger, record financial transactions accurately and timely and reconcile accounts regularly. Areas of concentration include:

  • Budget Support: Assist with budget tracking, variance research, and preparation of information for review by the Assistant Controller
  • Internal Controls: Follow established internal control procedures and assist with documentation, review, and compliance efforts.
  • Budget Monitoring: Assist in budgeting and variance analysis, providing insights into financial performance against targets.
  • Audit Support: Gather, organize, and prepare audit documentation and assist with auditor requests under the direction of the Assistant Controller
  • Process Improvement: Help identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency within assigned accounting processes.
  • Department Support: Work with other departments to gather financial and operational information needed by the Finance team.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements
Required
  • Pursuing or completing bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

Preferred
  • Two years of accounting experience.
  • Exposure to US GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory, or financial reporting.
