Job description

Job Title

Is responsible to provide quality customers service and to ensure that all transports requests are handled within the contract requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Promptly answers all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, collects pertinent information from the caller, determines and assign the level of priority of calls, enters the required information into the Computer Aided Dispatch System, and routes the call to the appropriate dispatcher.
  • Promptly schedule request coming into our dispatcher center via our On-Line scheduling software.
  • Operates the following equipment to dispatch, communicate, track and monitor crews during the workday:
    • Zello (Two Way Communications)
    • CAD (Traumasoft)
    • Samsara/GPS Camera System (In Vehicle Cameras)
    • Office 365 Mail
  • Maintains professional telecommunication contact with facilities, field staff, patients and/or their families, and other agencies to communicate activities of personnel, enlist services of other agencies, or provide alternative directions to on scene personnel.
  • Dispatches appropriate crews to transport patients originating out of various locations.
  • Follow and update the crew's status during transports.
  • Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of equipment used in the performing the job.
  • Troubleshoots operations-related concerns and, when necessary, makes notifications to various members of management.
  • Assign equipment to ambulance crews.
  • Makes recommendations for system enhancement.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the General Manager/Communications Supervisor.

  • Open availability (24/7 operation hours, weekends required)

  • Dispatch experience is preferred but not required.

  • An understanding of how patients are transported by ambulance/wheelchair van, common issues which arise during transport, and functions of healthcare facilities.
