Position Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, publish, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for Amazon Q Developer features. Partner closely with software engineers, product managers, and other subject matter experts to assess documentation requirements, understand feature behavior and defects, and plan content using AWS Content Strategy. Write structured technical content in XML, incorporate customer feedback, and ensure accuracy, usability, and consistency with AWS Style Guides. Test beta and released features by configuring environments, validating workflows, and reporting issues to development teams before and after launch. Lead documentation reviews with stakeholders and incorporate feedback. Provide UX and content guidance for the Amazon Q Developer web-based service, including reviewing and approving user-facing text such as fields, error messages, and dialog boxes to ensure clarity, consistency, and style compliance. Interview and assess technical writer candidates. Develop onboarding documentation and internal wikis for new AWS writers by researching required tools, processes, and environments, adapting general onboarding materials to writer-specific needs, and coordinating scope and timelines with leadership. Perform team-lead responsibilities for Q Developer documentation, including facilitating bi-weekly backlog grooming and sprint planning meetings, reviewing analytics, producing monthly status summaries, performing capacity planning, and reporting insights to management. Analyze Adobe Analytics data to assess documentation usage and trends, compare performance across services, and support data-driven decisions related to prioritization and resourcing.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Communications, English, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Must have five years of experience in the following skill(s): (1) creating and maintaining technical documentation for software products; (2) working with engineering and product teams to document complex systems and workflows; (3) structured authoring (XML or HTML), content strategy, usability, and information architecture; (4) testing software features, reporting defects, and incorporating customer feedback; (5) UX writing, style guide enforcement, analytics tools, and agile development processes; and (6) facilitating meetings, capacity planning, and communicating with stakeholders.
