Job description

Join Amazon's Tax Controversy Team and help resolve complex tax matters that impact our global operations. You'll work on high-stakes US federal tax audits involving transfer pricing, international tax issues, and competent authority interactions, collaborating with internal experts and external advisors to deliver solutions that matter.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the primary tax contact for US federal audits, managing transfer pricing controversies, Advance Pricing Agreements, and other global tax matters
- Prepare, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive responses to information requests, due diligence inquiries, and other tax authority communications
- Develop and present detailed analyses and presentations on tax positions to tax authorities and internal stakeholders
- Research, document, and analyze complex domestic and international tax issues from a controversy perspective, utilizing data analysis tools and emerging technologies
- Coordinate across Amazon's tax functions, legal team, and external advisors to align on strategy and ensure consistent communication with tax authorities
A day in the life
As a Sr. Tax Analyst, you'll be at the center of managing our relationships with tax authorities on significant audit matters. Your day might include preparing detailed responses to information requests from the IRS, analyzing complex datasets using technology tools to support transfer pricing positions, or coordinating with our Transfer Pricing and International Tax teams to align on strategy. You'll present tax positions to auditors, conduct functional interviews with business stakeholders to gather evidence, and work alongside external counsel to navigate intricate tax controversies. You'll also contribute to streamlining our processes, identifying ways we can handle future controversies more efficiently while maintaining the accuracy and rigor our audits demand.

We are a collaborative group of tax professionals dedicated to managing Amazon's tax audit relationships across multiple jurisdictions. Our team works closely with colleagues in Tax Reporting, Transfer Pricing, International Tax, and Accounting to ensure consistent, well-coordinated responses to tax authorities. We serve as trusted advisors to business leaders across Amazon, helping them understand tax implications and supporting them through audit processes. Looking ahead, we're focused on enhancing our processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to strengthen our positions, and building deeper partnerships across the organization. We're excited to welcome someone who shares our commitment to excellence and our collaborative approach to solving complex tax challenges.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- Master's degree
- CPA, or LL.M. (Taxation)
- Experience working in transfer pricing including MAPs and APAs, or transfer pricing related tax audits
- Experience responding to Tax Authority requests

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
