Job description

Join us at the forefront of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements to support Amazon's long term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people.
The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon's scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.
The Sustainability Reporting, Enablement and Governance (S-REG) team's mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted sustainability reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their Sustainability reporting obligations and effectively manage their Sustainability risks and opportunities.
We are seeking a meticulous, analytically rigorous and collaborative individual to support Amazon's global sustainability assurance processes. Your work will help ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of Amazon's mandatory sustainability disclosures by providing assurance-ready documentation and supporting external assurance engagements across multiple regulatory frameworks.
You will work within Worldwide Sustainability and cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and Accounting and will present results to senior leadership.
You will be responsible for designing and scaling a robust assurance methodology for sustainability disclosures, ensuring that reported data and narrative claims meet the standards required by assurance providers and regulators. You will work closely with sustainability program teams, report owners, science partners, and external assurance providers to validate disclosure content, remediate findings, and strengthen internal controls over sustainability reporting. You will work within Worldwide Sustainability and cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and Accounting and will present results to senior leadership.
To do well in this role, you must be able to navigate complex, multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments and exercise sound judgment in situations of high ambiguity. You must demonstrate a strong understanding of assurance standards (e.g., AICPA, ISSA 5000) and sustainability reporting frameworks, and be able to translate regulatory requirements into actionable internal processes that enhance the credibility and defensibility of Amazon's sustainability disclosures.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and scale an assurance-readiness framework for sustainability disclosures across multiple regulatory regimes (e.g., CSRD, ISSB), ensuring alignment with applicable assurance standards (e.g., AICPA, ISSA 5000).
- Coordinate and manage external assurance engagements with third-party assurance providers including scoping, evidence gathering, walkthroughs, and remediation of findings to achieve assurance over sustainability disclosures.
- Launch mechanisms to ensure cross-jurisdictional consistency of assurance approaches, materiality conclusions, and disclosure quality across all mandatory sustainability reports.
- Conduct gap assessments of current sustainability reporting practices against evolving regulatory and assurance requirements, identifying risks and developing remediation roadmaps.
- Build and maintain a centralized audit trail of evidence, methodologies, assumptions, and management judgments supporting sustainability disclosures, ensuring documentation is assurance-ready and defensible.
- Partner with Worldwide Sustainability, Finance, Legal and Accounting teams to align sustainability reporting with financial reporting processes and timelines.
- Synthesize complex regulatory, assurance, and sustainability concepts into clear written and verbal communications. Present assurance findings, readiness assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership across Sustainability, Legal, Finance, and Accounting.
