Job description

This role requires open availability seven days a week, and flexibility to work at various sites within 10 miles of the primary Operations site in the Chicago metro area (as needed).

As a Lead Associate, you'll be at the core of our fastest delivery operation, enhancing customer shopping experience. The ideal candidate possesses strong attention to detail, efficiently prioritizes tasks, demonstrates a willingness to learn, and maintains a commitment to delighting our customers.
What it's like at our site(s):
1. Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide safe working conditions.
2. Surroundings. You'll be working in retail warehouse environment with various equipment- shopping carts, pallet jacks, stock dollies, and a variety of products, including food and alcoholic beverages. You'll also interact with our digital shopping technology.
3. Activity. Work involves frequent movement between different areas, standing while conducting most tasks, and some lifting. You may need to reach into coolers or freezers.
4. Noise level. Sound levels are minimal, what one would expect in a retail warehouse environment.
5. Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for safety. Comfortable, slip-resistant, closed-toe shoes are also required for safety. Additional protective and visibility gear may be required.
6. New site opening: If you're applying to a site that hasn't opened yet, you'll help prepare the team for its first customer orders. This may include tasks like setting up shelving and unloading product deliveries. You'll also have an extended training and onboarding period, which may be at a nearby Amazon site.
Key job responsibilities
- Support, motivate, and model desired behavior for the rest of the team
- Manage operational processes, safety, quality, performance, and customer delivery promises following the Regional Area Manager guidance, and act as their main support at your assigned site
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and organized workspace
- Provide ongoing training in areas including system and equipment knowledge, quality training, general operations, and assist Regional Area Manager in identifying training needs
- Provide feedback on processes and standards, serving as the escalation point to assist associates and peers in solving issues where appropriate, training, deploying labor, and ensuring the team takes required breaks and lunches
- Maintain a key to the site, and open and close following the proper procedures.
- Handle a wide assortment of products including produce, meat, seafood, and alcoholic beverages
- Receive truck deliveries
- Collaborate with both associates and delivery partners to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service
- Participate in associate onboarding as required
- Ensure consistent execution of product workflow processes, guiding associates as needed including receiving, stocking, replenishing product, and preparing for delivery
- Perform front-line duties whenever necessary
- Contribute to continuous improvement of customer experience and operations by participating in the development of best practices and continuous product knowledge
- Utilize inventory management systems to scan, process, and count product
- Perform additional duties as assigned
You'll also need to be:
- At least 18 years old, and authorized to work in the United States
- Able to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around
- Able to go up and down stairs (where applicable)
- Available to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- On site for the entirety of your shift
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- High school or equivalent
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of production, warehouse or other leadership, or 1+ years of Amazon experience
- Experience managing inventory in a retail or distribution setting
- Prior experience in training others
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
- Previous experience in providing peer-to-peer feedback
- Demonstrated success in problem solving and delivering results

The starting pay for this position is listed below, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
