Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep and Pet Care Support)
Location: Houston, TX 77018
Employment Type: Part-time (15-20 hours/week)
Proposed Start Date: ASAP (Joy returns to work April 6th)
Compensation: $25-30/hour, based on experience and qualifications
Requirements:
  • Must be able to maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Has reliable transportation (will be reimbursed for mileage and/or gas expenses for family-related errands and duties)
  • Fluent English speaker
Proposed Schedule:
  • 15-20 hours/week, 4-5 days a week
  • Hours: 1:00-5:00 pm daily, with occasional flexibility for additional evening hours (e.g., when pet sitting or for special events)
About Our Family:
We're a busy, professional family of four, balancing demanding careers with the joys and challenges of raising two energetic daughters (11 & 13) . Our household is full of life, with school, sports, and various activities keeping us on our toes. One of us works from home 2-3 days a week and also travels internationally, while the other has a demanding job that requires travel as well. When one of us is home, we're fully present and enjoying our time together.
We also have two friendly labradoodles who bring a lot of joy to our family. Occasionally, a family member stays with us to lend a helping hand, particularly during busy times.
With all that's going on, we're looking for someone to help us stay organized, maintain the flow of our household, and ensure our kids are supported after school. We value open communication, reliability, and a proactive attitude, and we're excited to find someone who can help us keep everything running smoothly while we focus on our work and family time.

Key Responsibilities:
Household Management & Organization:
  • Maintain organization of closets, pantry, storage, and toys
  • Tidy rooms daily, keeping the home prepped for bi-weekly cleaning service
  • Manage and update household calendars, coordinate with multiple apps (GameChanger, TeamSnap, school newsletters), and upload information into the Skylight family calendar
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding)
  • Prepare for guest stays (e.g., setting up bathrooms, stocking essentials)
  • Help with holiday decoration and post-event cleanup
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and pickups
  • Oversee household vendors and service providers (handymen, cleaners, landscapers)
Inventory Management & Errands:
  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
  • Create and manage running household supply lists
  • Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
  • Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping/pick-up/wrap
  • Handle deliveries - bring mail in, develop a system for how mail gets sorted, open packages, put in a location where the family can see them, and get cardboard out to the garage
Meal Planning & Preparation:
  • Prepare simple meals 3-4 times a week (e.g., spaghetti, tacos, slow-cooker meals)
  • Batch cooking for easy reheating (family plans meals; house manager executes)
  • Prep dry snacks for the kids
  • Clean and manage kitchen tidiness after meal prep
Laundry & Linen Care:
  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (clothing, bedding, towels)
  • Coordinate school uniforms, practice gear, and seasonal clothing swaps
  • Iron/steam as needed (e.g., uniforms, special items)
  • Maintain laundry areas and restock supplies
Pet Care:
