Amazon Web Services is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for our Electrical Products and Services Engineering team. The product engineering team is a part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation of products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint

This team works to design and develop resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution products and systems. We seek new ways to enhance the reliability, scalability, and cost effectiveness of our engineering designs. As an engineer at Amazon, you have the ability to design, innovate, change, the products our customers rely on.
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who is capable of operating in a fast paced, ever changing, international product development and manufacturing production environment. Our Manufacturing Engineers work closely with Contract Manufacturers, design vendors, internal Product Development Engineers and other internal business partners to monitor and improve electrical equipment product quality, cost, manufacturability and delivery performance

This Manufacturing Engineer role will be a key liaison between the product design engineers and contract manufacturers drive DFx by taking input from our Contract Manufacturing supply base and improving our product designs. This position also provides key guidance and oversight for new product introductions at existing vendors and instilling our processes and expectations with new vendors. This role requires the engineer to be a technical contact and be the driver in understanding root cause of equipment failures and gaps in our suppliers manufacturing processes.

This role will work with supply chain partners and contract manufacturers to improve processes that streamline the end-to-end supply chain, reducing and eliminating points of failure. This role will also be responsible for communicating risks to program managers and leadership to ensure appropriate mitigations can be put in place before they impact our customers.

You must be able to work within a team and depend on others to accomplish the required work. As a product engineer at Amazon, you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including engineering service providers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third party testing labs and contractors.
Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but shouldn't be more than 30%

International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary.
This position can be based out of Herndon VA, Austin, TX or Columbus, OH.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive design improvement with product development team informed by customer and Contract Manufacturer feedback and data
- Provide oversight and guidance to contract manufacturers during all phases of new product introduction and driving process discipline within AWS and vendors teams
- Work with quality team to improve quality metrics at contract manufacturers/vendors
- Root cause customer impacting issues and drive resolution
- Work with Contract Manufacturers to drive cycle time improvements leading to realized cost reductions
- Improve processes to simplify and drive efficiencies in the supply chain
- Provide guidance to program management teams and leadership to drive strategic business decisions regarding contract manufacturing supply base.
