About Our Family
We are a busy, active family of four based in Wilmette, IL. Both parents have professional careers and are frequently pulled in multiple directions between work, travel, and the daily rhythm of raising two school-age kids. Our household runs best when there is a clear system in place, and we take pride in a well-organized, tidy home. We have weekly cleaners who handle the heavy cleaning, and we are looking for someone to help bridge the gap between visits and keep things running smoothly day to day.
Our kids are energetic, warm, and social. Our son is especially affectionate and loves connection, so a candidate who is genuinely comfortable and at ease around children will thrive here. We also share our home with a senior dog who is gentle, low-maintenance, and beloved by the family.
We work from home regularly and deeply value a professional, respectful dynamic. We want someone who can read the room, get things done independently, and communicate clearly and efficiently, primarily by email with occasional texts for time-sensitive items.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and quietly capable. You notice what needs to be done and do it without being asked. You respect that this is a professional household with structure already in place, and you work within it rather than around it. You are warm and comfortable around children, especially kids who are physically affectionate and high-energy.
You understand (or are willing to be trained) and can strictly follow dietary safety protocols, including managing a severe egg allergy. You communicate clearly and efficiently, and you know the difference between a quick update and a full conversation. You are comfortable on your feet, navigating a multi-level home, and you take pride in leaving every space a little better than you found it.
Experience as a former nanny or in a household assistant role is welcome - what matters most is your reliability, your initiative, and your fit with this family. If you share these qualities, we look forward to meeting you!
Key Responsibilities
Family Support
  • School pickups and drop-offs, including coordination with shuttle transportation
  • Light supervision and backup childcare during after-school hours
  • Backpack, snack, and clothing prep
  • Strictly follow and maintain awareness of a severe egg allergy - no exceptions

Laundry & Linens
  • Wash, fold, and put away laundry regularly; this is a high-volume household with daily loads
  • Linen rotation and restocking
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked

Household Organization & Maintenance
  • Maintain and support existing household organizational systems
  • Daily resets and light tidying - counters, surfaces, high-traffic areas
  • Prep the home ahead of weekly cleaners (tidying up so the crew can clean effectively)
  • Seasonal clothing and gear transitions
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Organizational projects as needed (mudroom/entryway, playroom, kids' gear)
  • Light maintenance awareness: batteries, bulbs, and minor household upkeep

Inventory & Errands
  • Restock fridge, pantry, and household/cleaning supplies on a regular cadence
  • Manage a running household supply list
  • Oversee and manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)
  • Package handling and box breakdown
  • Occasional dry cleaning and miscellaneous family errands

Pet Care
  • Schedule and coordinate vet, grooming, and monthly injection appointments for the family dog
  • Handle pickups and drop-offs from pet appointments as needed
  • Maintain pet supplies

Vehicle Upkeep
  • Ad hoc awareness of family vehicle maintenance needs

Vendor & Property Oversight
  • Coordinate with vendors as appropriate
  • Serve as point of contact for vendor access and scheduling
  • Research quotes and coordinate repairs; keep family looped in on decisions

Administrative Support
  • Help manage and maintain the shared household calendar (Cozy app and whiteboard)
  • Support packing and unpacking for family travel
